why dmm do not use UBIFS kernel as a standard filesystem?

  • hi

why dmm do not use UBIFS kernel as a standard filesystem for its image that released for dm800se and dm500hd ?

    thanks

  • You could do that on your own. For DMM, supplying the standard software with browser and Hbbtv might be more important than with ubifs.

How can we win, when fools can be kings?

  • However.... When you install (flash) an image there are during the installation several questions asked. In the same way DMM can have the image search for an extra device (HDD, USB, etc) and if found/present there could be a question if the user wants to have ubifs which will use a part of a - by user chosen - device.
Where a will is, there is a way out.

  • but dmm can supply the standard software with ubifs , and adding browser and Hbbtv to its own online feed.
in this situation , user can simultaneously enjoy of booth advantages.

  • Merlin comes without Browser and stuff but still doesn't really fit in the flash with ubifs... As I heard OoZooN and gutemine were trying to minimize the image enough. Don't know if they had success.

    so long

  • As written above, DMM has chosen to install as default the browser and hbbtv, so no discussion and no need to change that. If it is too difficult to put an USB or use our HDD partialy for having ubifs, then you should not want to have ubifs. In OoZooN image (you must have a 'recent' kernel) it works perfect but you need to have a device, Gutemine did a great job and .... The box is booting much faster!
