DVB-S2 Source Rate & DM8000 - Problem(?) !

  • Wenn ich nicht Unrecht bin, wird der Kopf in dm8000 wie errichtet:
BROADCOM BCM4501 Dual DVB-S2 Advanced Modulation Satellite Receiver.
Die Spezifikation dieser Ausrüstung ist dort:
    http://www.broadcom.com/collateral/pb/4501-PB01-R.pdf
    ( http://www.broadcom.com/produc…Receiver-Products/BCM4501 )

    Die Informationen von der Seite:
    "
    Data Rates:
    • DVB-S: 1–45 Msps
    • DVB-S2: 10–30 Msps
    "

Es gibt Problem! Hier einige Proben:
    Discovery HD Europe 42e 11145 H 5000 8/9 MPEG-4/HD
    Eurosport HD 42e 11145 H 5000 8/9 MPEG-4/HD
    HD Media promo Intelsat 904 60 E 11042 V 7441 7/8
    Luxe TV HD Hellas Sat 2 39 E 12718 H 7720 3/4

Alle 4 Kanäle verwenden die Quellrate, die als 10 Msps kleiner ist. Ist dm8000 in der Lage, alle Getriebe DVB-S2 zu empfangen? Ist dm800 in der Lage, es zu tun?

If I am not wrong the head in dm8000 is built as BROADCOM BCM4501 Dual DVB-S2 Advanced Modulation Satellite Receiver.
The specification of this equipment is there :
    http://www.broadcom.com/collateral/pb/4501-PB01-R.pdf
    ( http://www.broadcom.com/produc…Receiver-Products/BCM4501 )

    The information from the page:
    "
    Data Rates:
    • DVB-S: 1–45 Msps
    • DVB-S2: 10–30 Msps
    "

There is problem! Here some samples:
    Discovery HD Europe 42e 11145 H 5000 8/9 MPEG-4/HD
    Eurosport HD 42e 11145 H 5000 8/9 MPEG-4/HD
    HD Media promo Intelsat 904 60 E 11042 V 7441 7/8
    Luxe TV HD Hellas Sat 2 39 E 12718 H 7720 3/4

All 4 channels are using Source Rate smaller than 10 Msps.
Will dm8000 be able to receive all DVB-S2 transmissions ?
Is dm800 able to do it ?

please don't use those translationengines anymore... it's freakin' impossible to understand anything....

quite some people here can read (and write) english so it's not a big problem posting in english!
DM8000 would be completley senseless if it wasn't able to receive european HDTV Channels, don't you think so?

  • Ja, but is a mistake on the specification page of this hardware ?
I have tried to find other hardware built using this chip . No success.
The info about this head someone has read from pictures of dm8000 publiced some days ago for a moment.

I do not know what should I think about it.

  • What's the problem??

You can deliver HD MPEG4/H.264 on a QPSK (4 states) modulated carrier.
You are confusing modulation and encoding format!!!

Please try to read and understand.

The last part is very important

  • My post has been sent long time ago. Now not only beta testers are using this equipment but normal users too.
Maybe someone owning dm8000 will be able to check if this box is able to receive HD channel , where source rate is smaller than 10000 ?

  • I have checked Hellas HD Promo from 39e, which is using SR=7720 and all is ok.
