I remember linux promised to consist Blu-ray support in summer.
I'm tired to use double DVD-R discs to write HD movies - it is not enought.
It will be perfect if we can burn BD-R discs on dm8000.
Also whats about 3D format support?

there actually is blu ray drive support in linux when it comes to reading the bare data from a disc. meaning: you can attach a bluray drive to the dreambox and burn ts files to a BD-R or BD-RE using the DVDBurn plugin and then play them using the dreambox, this will already work "just like that". however, we are currently researching ways to actually be able to author blurays according to spec so that they can be played by standalone BD players.
BDMV/Retail movie bluray discs are another thing because they have AACS copy protection - there is no legally permitted way of playing them with an open source system.
HDMI 1.3 will do 3D video, it doesnt have the bandwith to carry the true HD DTS audio or include the ethernet part of HDMI 1.4. As most people would want to use a seperate amp for their audio that shouldnt cause a problem. I have recorded a few programs on my DM 8000 from the UK Sky 3D channel but as I havent got a 3D display I can only see the split screen showing the pictures side by side for now. Hopefully by the time my current TV fails the price of 3D TVs will be more affordable and I will have a supply of 3D material ready to watch on it

Theres a new box coming out in january by Optoma that will allow some of their 720p projectors to display 3D from broadcast Sky UK and Blu Ray 3D from sonys PS3. For some reason this box has 2 x 1.4 HDMI inputs but outputs the signal through a single HDMI 1.3 connection. Optomas current range of 3D capable projectors that will work with this only have HDMI 1.3 connections.
