Unstable ping on Dreambox 500s

    The problem I
    have is the following:
    when I connect
    my dreambox with a crossover cable directly with the computer, the ping
    goes very well, but when I plug it on the local network, it takes too
    long to get an IP address and ping is very unstable ...
    what is the
    ethernet card in the dreambox is dead?

    I don't think, that it is the ethernet-adapter of your Dreambox. As you said, you can use it without problem, when you use a crossover-cable.
    Maybe the switch has a problem to arrange the correct connection (full-/halfduplex or/and 10/100mBit).
    Try to connect your box to another switch (from another manufacturer) and test if the problem still exist.
