• There is now an open source version of the E-AC3 decoder in the latest versions of VLC, so it should not be too difficult to add it to Enigma2, is it ?

French TNT HD channels will soon be available in neighbouring zones in Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and Italy, so it will not be just a "french" problem anymore.

  • I don't think that the box is able to decode AC3+ with a software- decoder, it is to weak to do that. DMM needs the hardware- solution (microcodecs) for the Broadcom processor.
And they already said, that they try to buy it from Broadcom, as the chip itself is able to decode AC3+.

There will be AC3+- Support as soon as broadcom sells the microcodes to DMM (what they should do, but who knows, probably they only want to sell new processors).
That's what DMM said earlier and this is still the case.

  • dear aca84, tode was right relating to the fact that the dreambox cpu is too slow too decode ac3+ with the open source e-ac3 decoder. also, the hardware decoding does require a piece of firmware "microcode" that's supplied by the silicon manufacturer Broadcom. as soon as dolby finally issues the ac3+ license to dream multimedia, broadcom will supply us with that microcode so that dreamboxes can play those streams.

  • Would'nt it be possible, while waiting for the micro-code, to have a passthrough for the AC3+ stream ? Users having a compliant AV receiver could at least profit from it.
