There are some (non DM) 8000 images that, while not able to directly decode the AC3+ channels, can pass the AC3+ stream to an A/V receiver. Unfortunately, my A/V receiver being too old cannot decode the stream, but I can see it is receiving "something".

As what "Homey" wrote regarding waiting four years with no progress from DMM, I totally agree and will remember it when the time will come to buy a new box.

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, this does not work for the DM8000, event with the latest image - audio channels are correclty listed as "AC3+", but there is no sound coming out of the receiver

Does anybody knows whether the new OE 2.0 supports AC3+ ?

Alle französische terrestrische HD Sender (TNT) setzen schon seit einem Jahr nur AC3+ ein. Es sind 4 nationale Hauptsender, also nicht "kaum noch ein Sender". Mit der DM8000 haben wir für diese Sender nur das Bild und keinen Ton. Ein einfacher 100€ TNT Empfanger kann AC3+ problemlos wiedergeben, die 1'000€ DM8000 kann es nicht. Bilde Dir ein, Du könntest Die Erste HD und ZDF HD mit deiner DM 8000 nicht empfangen, dort liegt das Problem.

Ich frage auch mal nach.

AC3+ wurde am 31.Mai 2009 für die franz. TNT HD eingestellt. Die drei haupt französiche Sender (TF1 HD, France 2 HD und M6 HD) setzen seitdem AC3+ ein, sei es in ihrer terrestrischer oder satellitter Fassung (Atlantic bird 3). Es ist also seit einem Jahr kein "showcase" mehr. Inzwischen wurde AC3+ auch für die spanische terrestrische HD Kanäle eingestellt.

Seitens DM ist diese Problematik seit einem Jahr bekannt aber noch nicht gelöst. Es wurde viel geschrieben über Lizenzen und Microcode, aber bisher wurde nie einen Termin mitgeteilt. Bei meheren französiche und spanische Forums wird jetzt der Kauf von DM8000s nicht mehr empfohlen, da die hauptnazionale HD Sender damit nicht empfangbar sind und die Hoffnung, dass AC3+ einmal von DM unterstützt wird, almählich stirbt.

As m0rphU explained, the DM800/8000 are not powerful enough to decode DD+ (or AC3+) in software, so DM needs to obtain specific microcode from Broadcom (provider of the main processor) to decode it in hardware. Unfortunately, the situation has been like this for several months, DM being unable to give an estimated milestone. We are not informed whether it is Broadcom that is dragging its feet for unkown reasons (money ???) or DM that considers this implementation as a lower priority and does not put pressure on Broadcom to get the required microcode.

Would'nt it be possible, while waiting for the micro-code, to have a passthrough for the AC3+ stream ? Users having a compliant AV receiver could at least profit from it.

There is now an open source version of the E-AC3 decoder in the latest versions of VLC, so it should not be too difficult to add it to Enigma2, is it ?

French TNT HD channels will soon be available in neighbouring zones in Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and Italy, so it will not be just a "french" problem anymore.
