I see the binary has "mips" in the name, does it mean it won't work on DM900 ?

@gutemine : I don't see "EMC, AMS, VideoDB" in "plugins / extension manager" , what did I miss, do you add another repository or something ?
@m0rphU : yes, I did mount the shares, you know, , also added it to fstab and I can see them mounted, and browse them just fine using SSH, so they are there.
you wrote "Merlin image" and mentioned "other images" ... what is that about ? -
hi, just to clarify:
I was not confused by mounting vs the database-like file view in the MediaPlayer, just new to dreambox (not Linux) and may have worded it poorly.Tried to solve it by mounting my shares to /media/hdd/movie/episodes , and while that works fine on file system level, DVR does not display any directories.
Made DVR use /media/hdd/movie/episodes , and it will only display the files on the root of that share, and no dirs.Seems like the main problem here is that DVR does not handle dirsl..

PS: And the CrossEPG code is worse then the EPGImporter, which is already pretty creative at some places. Is that a coding related opinion, (on the coding) - or on user experience ? , does "pretty creative" somehow relate to automatically solving minor changes like channel renaming, or is that a pun on coding style ?

@gutemine
I used xmltv >6 years ago when compining DVB-T and DVB-S2 , .. and it can only be summarized as "hell". needed to fix things every time some provider changed some spacing or name of a channel or a webpage..I googled and found that CrossEPG works for CanalDigital in Sweden (which is basically the same thing as here, same streams)
So OpenEPG should be fine , all I found so far is Open EPG Plugin for DreamOS and OE 2.0
except DM900 does not run on MIPS ...? , by any chance, do you know proper source for that plugin ?
Thanks. -
mentioned mediaportal.org (aka MP) that MediaPortal does support DVB tuners directly, and use EPG from satellite just fine.
... it just works if I force it to spend all/more grabbing time on that one channel, AFAIK no extra functionality were programmed to make it work with Norwegian CanalDigital. (nor does norway+denmark+sweden have that many MP users. )It made me believe it could be equally simple with Dreambox.
I'll check out the plugins you mentioned for any mention scandinavian CanalDigital -
I do not expect to see the directories on Dreambox, (they are on a samba/cifs server, accessed as a share over LAN)
I'll google the other plugins you mentioned.
You also mention using PVR button, sure, I could mount the network share to the SSD inside dreambox, an you may know if the internal player handle .mp4, mkv, .sub .srt and other files than just .ts ?Thanks
-
MediaPortal, (among others) handle that just fine, it seems to be more about letting it grab from one, not all channels, so it spend enough time there...

thanks, I have Dream OS 4.3.1r20 , that is for DreamOS 2.5 "unstable" - should I just wait ? , given your experience with Dreambox (I had it only one day) , what would you say is the timeline for 2.5 being considered stable , and/or kodi ending up in the standard repository/plugins ?

Norwegian Canal Digital is providing only "now and next" EPG for each channel, in the channel's stream.
Then there is an transponder that provides 14day of EPG for all CanalDigital channels (even those on other transponders)How can I make (DM900) capture and store the long EPG ?

Subject says all, I would love to have Kodi on it.

Can I make DM900 's Media Player display directories ?
I scan a samba share: organized as:
directoryA
file1
file2
directoryB
file1
file2
etc...all I can see in Media Player (after mounting/scanning that share)is:
file1
file1
file2
file2
etc..A flat structure with hundreds of files is very hard to use.
Can I see is sorted in directories, or just browse the network share live ?
