Besteht die Chance einer Möglichkeit, dass ihr euch mit dem Dev des vTuners mal kurzschließt, damit die Software wieder nutzbar ist?

Ich denke, dass schlußendlich jeder Hersteller sein eigenes Süppchen weiterkochen wird.

Was Sat over IP mit Dreamboxen angeht, könnte man folgendes machen:

Raspberry Pi mit einem (oder mehreren) USB Sattunern bestücken und direkt an den Multiswitch anschließen. VTuner auf dem Raspberry PI installieren und den/die Tuner für beliebig viele Dreamboxen verfügbar machen.
Leider funktioniert der VTuner (https://code.google.com/p/vtuner/) noch nicht auf dem Raspberry Pi, bzw. lässt er sich nicht kompilieren. Jedenfalls hab ich es nicht geschafft, was aber nichts heißen muss...
Ob der Raspberry mit der gleichzeitigen Verwendung mehrerer Tuner klarkommt, müsste dann getestet werden.

Telnet oder FTP ist egal, wobei FTP wahrscheinlich einfacher ist. Wenn du per FTP mit dem DCC auf der Dreambox bist, schau mal unter /media, ob dort irgendwo der Name deines USB Sticks als Ordner auftaucht. Wenn ja, lösch diesen Ordner und starte die Dreambox danach neu.

Da wird der Flash vollgelaufen sein. Kommst du noch per FTP oder Telnet auf die Box?

Gesetz dem Fall, dass mit der Box alles in Ordnung ist, sind 350€ tatsächlich ein guter Preis. Der DVB-S2 Tuner kostet ca. 80€, wobei ich aber nicht ganz 10 Sekunden Google bemüht habe. Geht evtl. noch günstiger.

You should replace the LNB with a LNB that has at least two output ports. Then connect a multiswitch to the two lines coming from the LNB. Your TV(s) will be connected to the multiswitch then.
Another option is using a unicable LNB connected to a unicable capable multiswitch. This would allow watching/recording/streaming (max. 4 different channels) with only one tuner. But: I have no idea if unicable LNBs and -multiswitches are available in Australia. And before ordering stuff you should wait for somebody experienced in unicable configurations responding to this thread.

Unfortunately I can't explain the technical difference. But you may get the difference from how the wiring inside your home is done when using cable TV or satellite TV.
Cable TV:

• The provider's cable is connected to the interconnection point inside you home
• Your living room TV has a direct connection to the interconnection point
• The TV in your sleeping room is connected to the providers network via your living room

So using cable TV you're able to use series connections to get the TV signal on your last screen in the row.

Satellite TV:

• Your satellite dish's LNB is connected to a so called multiswitch
• Each TV in your home needs a direct connection to the multiswitch
• Series connections (box2 -> box1 -> multiswitch) are not possible

Satellite TV requires a so called star shaped connection to work. Each receiving device needs a dedicated line to the multiswitch to work properly.

No. This does not make a second line unnecessary in case you want watch and stream/record multiple channels

Yes you need multiple lines from the LNB.
Concerning those foxtel boxes: that's kinda strange. It can be accomplished on cable and IPTV broadcasting but on satellite networks you're limited to multiple channels on the same transponder if your box only got one tuner.

You may get that information from websites like lyngsat.com. But your Dreambox won't let you zap to a channel on a different level than the one you're currently (ie.) recording anyways. Except you're using more than one tuner

The first column is the important one. Channels on the same transponder (value below the frequency) can be watched/recorded/streamed concurrent

Even though we're talking about one satellite only, what "MiRoMOMO" wrote applies.
Let's say you're watching "ProSieben". You will be able to record/stream "Sat.1" as well because these TV stations reside on the same level. Recording/streaming "RTL" won't be possible because it's on a different level, although all these channels reside on the same satellite (Astra 19.2°). With more than one tuner (ie. Sundtek USB) you won't be limited to one level.

Das war's leider auch nicht. Das speichtert mir ja ein laufendes Timeshift. Ich möchte die laufende Sendung anhalten, umschalten und irgendwann zu der angehaltenen Sendung zurück zappen. Diese soll dann an der Stelle weiterlaufen an der ich sie angehalten hab. Zur Zeit ist es so, dass wenn ich eine Sendung pausiere und dann umsschalte, die pausierte Sendung weiterläuft. Timeshift wird dann also beim umschalten deaktiviert.

Naja... hast schon recht. Ich dachte aber eher an "echtes Timeshift". Wenn ich die Sofortaufnahme verwende, muss ich zum Abspielen ja die PVR Funktion bemühen und anschließend die Aufnahme wieder löschen. Meine Vorstellung ging mehr in diese Richtung:
Timeshift aktiv auf Sender A -> umschalten auf Sender B -> zurück auf Sender A -> Sendung schauen wo zuvor pausiert -> Timeshift deaktivieren -> temp. Aufnahme wird gelöscht

Ich, bzw. meine bessere Hälfte hätte da einen Featurerequest zum Thema Timeshift was in erster Linie die Multituner Hardware betrifft. Derzeit ist es ja so, dass wenn man Timeshift auf Sender A aktiviert und auf Sender B umschaltet, Timeshift auf Sender A abgebrochen wird. Wäre es möglich dieses Verhalten dahingehend zu ändern, dass Timeshift auf Sender A einfach weiterläuft? Wenn es konfigurierbar wäre, wäre es auch recht.

Permanent Timeshift kommt hier nicht in Frage, weil die HDD dann auch permanent läuft. Der Umweg eine Aufnahme zu starten funktioniert prinzipiell zwar, müllt aber auf Dauer die Festplatte zu.

Naja... soweit mir bekannt, verwendet(e) OpenPLI aktuelle Treiber, aber das E2 wurde vor einer kleinen Ewigkeit geforkt. Die Änderungen am E2, die von DMM seitdem gemacht wurde, sind bei OpenPLI nicht oder nur zum Teil vorhanden.

Probier einfach mal das aktuelle Experimental von DMM. Wenn dann alles funktioniert, hast du den Schuldigen ;).

Ich hab gerade Google bemüht... soweit ich das sehen konnte, gab es das Problem in 2011, wurde aber gefixt. Hast du mehrere Sat Tuner in der Box? Wenn dem so ist, könntest du einfach einen anderen Tuner testen
