Hello Dreambox users and Dream Multimedia employee/developers.

Today i read some fine news on a tech site.
Samsung give something to the opensource community: a new filesystem, F2FS. It's a flash-friendly file system.

This is created to speed up the preformance of flash based storage devices.(Compact Flash, SecureDigital, Internal flash memory of Dreambox itselves.)
I think we can get a preformance boost if we can switch from ext3/ext4 to F2FS.

Here the news item from "Linux Kernel Mailing List archive":

More info can be found from the source of this message(click) .
Samsung developers say they solved the issue of the log-structure of the file system that appears with flash. Samsung devs. and Kernel developer Greg Kroah-Hartman agree it's easy to implement.
Their is already a f2fs-tool on sourceforge .
I hope Dream Multimedia will add this a.s.a.p., because the Dreambox(Goliath) uses lots of flash based storage devices. The harddisk is the only none flash based storage device.
So i have the idea we can get a great performance boost, thanks to Samsung
Is it possible that we can get feedback from DMM, if this will be added in a kernel update? Or give us feedback about performance.

Or should i have to make a ticket for this request, to use F2FS as much as possible?

How about a temporary indirect solution: record the channel with AC3+.
Then play the recorded file on a device that supports it.(computer?)

I suppose the AC3+ will be recorded, since a recording is a unencrypted dump of the signal.

This is maybe a bit a dumb question. I'm using OE2.0 for a longer time now.

In openpli their was a option to Fastscan. Then i could selec tv provider (Canal Digitaal or TV Vlaanderen) to get the channel list(bouquet).

What it did: It downloaded provider settings from satellite transponder and create a
bouquet with providername & channels(tv and radio), with all the
channels provided by signal provider (for me that's Canal Digitaal).

So that we have, manual scan, automatic scan, fast scan. (maybe also add blind scan in service searching menu.)
How do i do that in OE2.0. Can it be added please?

If some users are too lazy to add a dns ip when using manual tcp/ip setup.
    ...then use DHCP instead :grinning_squinting_face:

Some people use a different sns ip as router lan ip, so it's normal how it is now.
Because with manual setup you need to add manually a dns ip, like gateway ip and box ip and subnet mask. (very logical) :winking_face_with_tongue:

    Hello Dream multimedia developers.

I'm just very curious, that's why i start this topic.

How is the development going of OE2.0.0?

Is their a blog or some other link where we can follow the latest news about development steps of OE2.0.0?

I'm wondering when can we expect a new OE2.0.0 version? The last OE2.0.0 beta image is already from weeks ago (16-6-2012).
I'm very interested in following the latest news about steps that DMM make for in my case DM8000 software development.

Keep on going the OE2.0 development.
It's not finished yet, 4 example BluRay burning is still buggy, only a few minutes then it stops, and we don't have xmltv epg. Now only next program shows up, very difficult to use for timer recordings. :winking_face_with_tongue:

    I read:

    Zitat

This is because several electronic components are no longer available.

    My question, what components...

Cool thing: DM8000 will be a collectors item :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I hope Dream multimedia will not stop OE2.x DM8000 image development for the next ...many many years. :upside_down_face:

We waited DM model which supports CI+ modules, sopo new modules will work.

Then get a Settopbox of your signal provider that supports CI+/HD+.
You really have no idea what CI+ & HD+ really is. (it's extremely much (illegal) userlimitations) Youtube link1 , link2 , link3 .. Conclusion: Only stupid people want to use it. :smiling_face_with_horns:
Illegal because in some countries you can do more by law, then what CI+/HD+ allows you to.
Just stop posting about i want CI+ on a dreambox, that's stupid (as stupid as HD+ limitations).

Also we waited demostration of new funtcions demonstration of OE2.0

How about flash a OE2.0.0 image on a dreambox, and experience it yourself. (keep in mind it's beta, so not everything isworking how it should be).

    OE2.0 at DM8000:
Today i updated my DM8000 to version 20120602 Not with imageflash, but with update. Result was a crash reboot loop. (i already deleted the crashlogs).
Flashing the DM8000 to dreambox-image-dm8000-20120602.nfi has as result that some plugins/addons won't install anymore.

When using one oe2.0 image back like dreambox-image-dm8000-20120527.nfi and everything is booting good/installing good.

So don't use the / update to oe2.0 from 2-June-2012.

Issue is already solved with a update from GP3.2.

    It's working !

Today i received the Sony Optiarc BD-5750H (It's from Hewlet Packard). :winking_face_with_tongue:
I removed the older dvd slim slot in drive, and removed the sata cable that goes to the usb-sata(II?) module in a DM8000. (keep that sata cable, because the sata connector into the usb looks like a sataII, so i think it's a sataII-sata cable)

I connected another shorter sata cable on the second sata connector on the motherboard. See picture above, it's near the optical drive location.
Other side of sata cable to Sony(HP) BD-5750H drive. Mounted the optical slim drive like Dream Multimedia show, and started the DM8000.
It's booting ok, and the DM8000 recognise the "hp BD RW BD-5750H" with OE2.0.0 image.
I try to play a dvd, but dvd player didn't start playing. :loudly_crying_face: (can dmm work on this, playing movie DVD on /dev/sr0 BD-drive)
Then i use DVD burn plugin, and that is working. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
So the drive it selves is working on DM8000 second sata connector on motherboard.(see second image above)
I use OE2.0.0 image of dmm (original), maybe they can explain why dvd player isn't working, but DVD burn plugin does.
Because it's a experimental oe2.0.0 image, i guess they're working on it to get it better. :pinch:

Location of BD RW drive connected to second sata controller on DM8000 motherboard is: /dev/sr0 (with nothing connected to usb-sata internal)

Only advice i want to give:
My previous dvd-rw drive was a slot in type. The BD-RW drive that i have now has a tray.
I miss my slot in, because a tray is a bit eeh sensitive for mechanical force, and doesn't close as easy as inserting a disc in a slot in drive. Sometimes the tray isn't closing properly, and then i have to move the tray a bit to get it close, and sometimes press more times to keep it close. (maybe that's the downside of buying something from internet that is located at other side of the world (like HongKong->Amsterdam). Lots of post travelling and maybe mechanical force).

So if you get a Blu Ray slim drive, get a slot in one, and not with tray.
A Blu-Ray slim drive recorder with slot-in is: Sony Optiarc BD5850H (I recommend that one for the DM8000)

Here it works with newer OpenDreambox 2.0.0 image.
My DM8000 has internal 2x BCM4501 tuners. That typedoesn't support blindscan. I also have a BCM4505 extra DVB-S2 tuner and thatone does support blindscan.

-So be sure you choose tuner for blindscan that supports blindscan.
    -Try newer image like OE2.0.

I order this burner. Today it's shippedfrom the USA.
So in a few weeks i can say more if it's supported.

Would be nice if DMM has the DVD-burn plugin soon bugfree and running with BDMV support. (i got it working now , but DM8000 crashes and result is only first 2 minutes of HD recording in BDMV)

I suppose that we can use a BD-R drive, when bdmv is not working, you can always use it as 100Gig data disc.
(you can also transfer files to computer by network)

    Hi all.
Since we all have the possibility to upgrade our DM8000 with a BD-R burner, i have this question:
Can we (1st generation DM8000 users) use the second internal sata connector ?

I ask this, because my DM8000 came with a usb->sata connector. So on the mainboard (see image with number 2 in it) their was a usb 2.0 bus, with usb-sata module. A sata wire from that usb-sata module was used to connect the DVD-R burner.

On the other image attached, you see a black arrow pointing to what i think is a second sata connector.
Can we use that for BD-R instead of the usb-sata module?
I mean transferrate of a real sata bus is way higherthen a usb2.0 module, and so BD-R burning will go better/faster?
Or more better, we got then 3x sata internal (2 original ones + the usb-sata module).

If I remember right, the second sata wasn't used because of some driver issue, so now with oe2.0.0, can we use the second main board sata connector?

Thanks for the tip. i had the same ftp issue.(omg i reinstalled ftp client on computer, and did Linux network re-setup). So it was OpenDreambox 2.0.0 update and not the rest of the network devices here :grinning_squinting_face:
