Did you try with the original image ?
I had the same issue, when loading de default settings my DM crashes, i returned it to service Repair.
Try to connect a Hyperterminal, to see what is happenning at boot.

You may download an older original image for your dreambox, you must connect your DM to the network with a DHCP working, make sure that Enable Network is enabled.
You can also download the second stage loader file, and flash with this file first then flash with the original image.

yes, with USB and dreamUp and mozilla also.
I found a solution for "Second stage loader wasn't found" by flashing with DreamUp by serial Method (latest boot loader)
Now the dreambox is booting after flashing with the latest original image but i can not get to the interface for default configuration, it crash a the first screen (Video config : HDMI etc).
i have connected Hyperterminal to see what is happening at boot there are errors but i can't see what is the principal issue.

I have this message when booting my DM500 HD with hyperterminal connected :

"Second stage loader wasn't found" then it get blocked a this.

I have read in some forums that this is a issue with de sim card.

Please help me.
