If dm7000 will be mpg4 ready I do not think it will be able to work with 8PSK modulation which is used instead of QPSK . I think only this modulation all providers will use for sdtv and hdtv in mpg4 transmissions.

About IBM support ... I think it is not free and customer has to pay for it if it want more and do not have time for reverse engenering.

I have dm7000 but read it should be possible with dm7025. But I do not know if it is working - programming internal flash using connected CF module with new software.

If you will select chanel - box will update chanels info for all other chanels on this transponder.
Suppose the same procedure is working on dm7025.

Please do not use global list. You should use only user's bouquets and you will not see problem like this.

I can not tell you which LNB is the best , but I can say the new ALPS tuner in dreamboxes is much better from old used in dm7000. If you have old dm7000 and will replace with ... dm8000 you can have hope for 10%-20% improvements.
If you have dm7000 you can use addon called : sigboost_v0.24.zip and have hope for 5-7% improvements.

You can ask different :
Is the sdtv box still worth purchasing? I think no. Better buy hdtv dm8000.
If you need sdtv you should buy dm500pvr.

Dm7000 does not have hardware for mpg4 decoding. Only main processor can do it. But look on dream's processor and 2 times faster xbox1's processor where mpg4 is possible , but no way for hdtv !

You can connect dvd instead of HDD , but support for it in software will be only for dm8000 I think.
