just a quick update i got all the new parts from dream
in germany a very fast service and great support now
my dm800hd is looking even better than before

i have broken the card slot flap off, on the from of this receiver
does anyone know if i can buy a new front panel for this box
i dont want to leave it like this or change for a new receiver
as it works first class and looks like new, any help or info would
be helpfull on this,thanks

I have image release 3.0.1 and when i enter my IP address in IE i get the dreambox webcontrol with the following options: Televeision, Radio, Extras, Tools but i don't see the "firmware upgrade" box as it is described. I need to flash with another image. Please help.

i had the same problem with the internet explorer and
tried the firefox browser and it works first class everytime
this seems to be far faster than the internet explorer

you are very possibly correct but every other satellite receiver iv'e owned does have the menu's set for every satellite to start with channel number one but they were not linux receivers and i thought a dreambox would have channel lists the same way and non linux receivers, when you press a chn number on a non linux receiver it only changes the channel on the satellite your viewing,
and the way it's set on the dm500hd does'nt take away anything from the quality of this great receiver,

after trying for some time and i still cant see anyway
to set the channel numbers to start at number one for
every satellite, i have come to the impression it needs a
official updated software image to fix this problem,

i would flash the receiver with a cat5 ethernet lan cable, not the usb cable
first download the correct official image 3.0.1 for your dm500hd dreambox model on your desktop, next You need a browser [firefox] and a strait wired cat5e ethernet network cable. to Connect your Dreambox to your router and the computer next you need the dreambox IP address,
once you have the IP addresses turn the dreambox into standby
now you should be ready to flash the image on the receiver.
Power down the Dreambox, by switching it off with the power switch.
on the rear of the dreambox [Standby is not enough! it wont work]
[1] Press and hold the power button on the front of the dm500 for half minute.
[2] still holding the front button Switch on your Dreambox at the rear switch.
[3]next hold for a further half minute then release the front button
Now, go to your computer and open the firefox browser.
next enter in the dreambox IP address on the search bar exactly same way as
it was written down from the dreambox, this is a example:-"http://192.168.*.*6
and click go this will take you to a page that looks like a chip on a circuit board
at the bottom of the page, there's a bar strip called "firmware upgrade". Click it. the page will change, On the next page, you click the browse bar and select the flash image you want to flash. from your computer desktop that you downloaded it on once you find the image file etc: you load it on the loader panel and then Click on "FLASH!" and wait. It might take some time to upload and flash the image. once it starts you will see a blue bar strip move across the strip
wait untill the image has loaded 100% and you see the re-boot button click this and it Switches the box off and on again. The official image should now be flashed and working. now close down the firefox browser and then you do the rest of the set up and satellite and channel scan with the remote control, as with all things if unsure please ask first

many thanks for your reply, can you tell me how to sort the numbers
with the v 4.0.1.0 dreamboxedit. i cant find any way unless there is
a different editor or program thats needed

is there any way to set the channel numbers
so they start a number one and run in order
for every satellite, at the moment my channel
numbers start at number one on the first satellite
scanned for the first channel listed and the last channel
on the last satellite is a four figure number for the last
channel on my satellite channel list, i would prefer each
satellite channel list to star at number one

will this help if you are still having problems
i have never use the usuals settings long/lat
for diseqc motors having always used the 36v motor
and now receivers dont have this feature i have a v-box
try this for the motor set up on usuals
menu.setup.ok service search>ok tuner configuration>ok
choose tuner>ok then on the reception settings panel
set the configuration mode to simple
next line down> mode set to possitioner
then enter your long/lat settings
now the motor setting is set for usuals
then exit and go to manual scan >ok
on the service scan set type of scan for multisat
then enable the sats you wish to scan from the list
and after this click>ok and the scan of sats and chns will start
as i said i alway start from my west satellite and scan west to east

i have the dm500HD and i use the diseqc 1.2 motor settings
with a v-box and a 36v superjack motor on a chn master 1.2 dish
and this is how i set my dm500hd for all the sats and channels i
wanted to have and everything works first class

[first set you dish on the west sat you want to scan from west to east]

i use the same set up mate you sort it this way,

menu >ok set up> ok service searching>ok tuner configuration>ok

then useing left and right buttons set the tuner config mode to
advanced
scroll down and select the satellite you wish to set then
scroll down
to lnb click right and set to lnb 1 next down to diseqc mode
click right
and set on diseqc 1.2 next scroll down and zero the long/lat settings

now scroll down to the next part of the panel on [use usuals for this
sat]
click right and set to [no] then if like me you search the sats
from west to east set this sat ie: hispasat 30w at number 1 in the
stored possition then move back up the list

to satellite and click to change it to the next sat you want to scan
then go back
down and set usuals to off and change the sat number to 2

you do this for every sat you want to set and scan when all are set
>click>ok
and on the next panel zap back to service before tuner
set up>click.ok and
exit the panel on the next panel that opens go to
manual scan then on the
second line down type of scan click right and
change to multisat then click
right again to enable all the satellites you have set on the list. next just
click.ok to scan the satellites. now you can sit back for a couple of hours if you've
set quiet a number of sats from west to east
