Question: When does Dreambox / Enigma2 users get a newer-more uptodate- kernel in their dreamboxes?
I want to use the ext4 filesystem, it's better then ext3 (better options).
(And OpenPli 2.x has already a Ext3 -> Ext4 conversion option at Disk section.)

Yes, there is a DTS downmix plugin from the third party so I don't understand why the same can't be done with AC3+.

Has to do with the license. And so it's not allowed to use AC3+ signal.
    I'm having a DTS / DD(AC3) amplifier.
So I don't use AC3 or DTS downmix(available in OpenPli2.0), but when more channels do use AC3+ I'm looking forward in sort of AC3+ to AC3 conversion in realtime over sp/dif.

    p.s. I'm a satisfied OpenPli2.0 (beta) user.

    Hello all!

I use a DM8000, and since a few weeks i notice that when i control the dreambox by:
    Webcontrol > Boxcontrol > Webremote
That the red "Exit" button don't work anymore.
With the result that i can't get out of the menu's.
I asked on OpenPli forum, but they suggest to ask here, so that's why this topic.
[Blockierte Grafik: http://www.pli-images.org/files/attachments/exit_button_malfunction.png] <- The red "exit" button won't work anymore when i click on it with browser/mouse.(other buttons work)

What can their be done to have a working "Exit" button on the webremote? Reflashing didn't work.
Thanks for help solving this issue.

    Hi all.
Two days ago i get a Spectrum Dreambox keyboard.
    [Blockierte Grafik: http://www.pli-images.org/files/attachments/dm_keyboard.jpg]

The Device packed out, read manual and follow instructions. I put 3 new(full) duracell penlight batteries in it.
Device worked like 10 minutes. Only a few buttons worked(like bouquet&volume&menu&exit).
After the 10 minutes the keyboard stop working. Dreambox 8000 doesn't response to keyboard, and keyboard it selves doesn't have red control light anymore.
It's a new keyboard. Now why is it so buggy?
Why does a piece of junk has name Dream on it?
Really people, don't get that keyboard, because it simply doesn't work at all.(store where i bought it from say: Every new keyboard work the same, so send it back for refund).
Is their a way to get it working without braking warranty(opening device?). it doesn't response to any button.

Hi to all Dreambox knowitall's

On another forum of OpenPLi we are thinking about more audio options in image software.
So I got a few hardware questions, to find out if their is or can be hardware that is capable of those requested audio options.
    Like upsampling audio to 96KHz 24bit, 32bands graphic equalizer for each channel. (so 2.0 = 2x32bands, 5.1 = 5x32bands, from 20 till 150Hz off, and 1x from 20 - 150Hz for lfe).

    [Blockierte Grafik: http://www.gersic.com/plugins/plugimages/tdae.eq2032.png
    So my questions is:
-What kind of chipset is handling the audio processing on the DM8000 by default. Is it the Broadcom BCM7400 chip?
-If the DM8000 doesn't have requested hardware for audio processing, then i'm willing to ask hardware vendors if they want to create sort of 24bit/96KHz (THX qualified) soundcard to connect in the socket that the extra snap-in DVB tuners use. But what kind of socket is it on the DM8000 mainboard, where the snap-in DVB tuners are connected to, is it PCI-express?

I hope i can get some feedback about this topic, because it would really be awesome if we got some stunning audiophyle settings/options on our Dreambox(in my case DM8000). Or It would be a miracle if their will be a state of the art studio quality audio card to connect in a place where a snapin tuner is connected to.

    Greetings, Jeroen from Amsterdam.

The decoder itselve isn't nessesary. It's passing trough to amplifier by sp/dif(coax&toslink) & DVI-D right? Or is the DM8000 blocking AC3+/DD+ output?
The amplifier must support Dolby Digital +
I think it would be cool if the DM8000 can convert a AC3+/Dolby Digital + format to AC3/Dolby Digital. For all those amplifiers that do support AC3/DD and no AC3+/DD+. Since DD+ is not backwards compatible with DD.

Or is this something for the image creators?

    Hello Dream multimedia.

I was online looking for information to see images of installed DVD-R drives. (do we get Blu-Ray Recordable support?).
Then i discovered two different images, same hardware, but with diferent connected DVD-R slim drive.
Both images have internal sata harddisk, but on one image the internal DVD-R is connected with 2nd internal sata connection, on other image it's connected with usb sata module connected to internal usb bus.
Here the DM8000 images: HDD + DVD-R with free usb bus & HDD + DVD-R with used usb bus .
I've read from some Dutch enigma2 image experts, that it is a driver issue, and so only one internal sata bus is supported by DM 8000 driver.

    So my questions:
-when do we get all hardware of DM8000 maximum supported by drivers (4 example both internal sata connections, so that internal usb can be used for something else)
-when do we get Blu-Ray slim recorder support, so that we can record on BluRay capacity (so then we got DVD(normal) miniDVD(CD) and maxiDVD(BluRay) )
Oneday Blu Ray will be supported by Linux (I hope, without bd-rom mark, hdcp, drm)

Oh and thanks for creating the DM8000 !

    Well, ok.

I just realize: The maximum HD picture experience i ever receive was:
    Interlaced : 1080i 50Hz (actually 25Hz right?)
    Progressive : 720p 50Hz

So no worry. At the moment.
What do you people think, will they ever transmit in 1080p 50Hz? Or will it never happen or take many years? If so then we don't need to worry that we lose HD quality with our DM8000's.

    I can imagine 4:3 isn't supported, because it's a bit outdated.

    About no 1080p 50/60 HZ.
What a shame that the chipset doesn't support it, so their is no way of tweaking it(even with a cooling fan) in gpu (dvi) chip.

    Anyway, how about:
    1080p 25Hz
    1080p 30Hz

    And 1080p multi (where multi is a automatic switch between 25 & 30, so a 50Hz channel switch to 25, and a 60Hz channel switch to 30Hz.)
I mean the automatic resolution plugin supports 1080p 30Hz so i think it must work in the chip.

Is it true that h.264 is using another video chip then the main one in the DM8000 ? Is that one capable of 1080p 50/60Hz?
