There is no work around because its not a bug.

the image could be compiled to default to NTSC, but then all the euro PAL users would be in our boat, and there are more of them then us in NA.

you can ues the webIF as well to change it.

I see, but I had this problem with DSM T16, is it because It's an experimental CVS image?
I have this problem with samsung only, I've had dynex and Vizio, they all behave normally, they even show picture with 50hz, I can't tell about other brands
maybe It's related to samsung only

    hello
I have a samsung LN46C750 US version, we use 60Hz instead of 50Hz (europe)
after I flash my DM800HD, and during the 1st startup, I don't get the picture, It says mode not supported
I have to do the setup in a blind way very close to the DM LED (I know what I have to choose because I'm use to the 1st setup), then go to menu-setup-system-a/v setting then choose 60hz
any workaround regarding this issue ?

That was a statement from Ghost when I talked to him 2 or 3 days ago on IRC (so it was "official" but not this forum). I asked him about blindscan and 8psk turbo support for the new 4505/4506 Broadcom tuners and the answer was that it is on his ToDo-list.

And yes I'm from Germany.

    I hope so
I hope he did mean to-do list for both blindscan and turbo-fec, not only blinscan, I know people want blinscan, turbo-fec is not used in europe/middle east
    let's wait and see

Since no engineers seem to read this, maybe it would be good to post at
DVBN happysat to see if a genius there can answer.

nobody can give support to turbo-fec but dream-multimedia, or someone that has the source code, don't think everything is open source, when It comes to tuners, It's really closed

One of the developers said to me that 8PSK turbo support is on the todo list.
Just give them some time to implement the support. :face_with_tongue:

could you please elaborate further, are you one of the NA community? could you tell me when you heard that? if so these are great news
we just want to have an official statement from DMM, no rush or whatsoever, if possible so let us know, if impossible do the same
    I hope you are right
edit: apparently you speak german so you are one of the eruropean dreamers, thx for showing up and expressing support and empathy

    Im not an expert
how do you know the arte sample was originally 4:3 then stretched to 16:9
what I know is that, 16:9 or 4:3 is how the channel broadcasts
HD = 16:9, if they broadcast with black bars +4:3 movie, It's a good thing, without those bars you will see the movie as SD (very stretched image), with the bars, It's HD like
SD= 4:3, or 16:9, many SD channels are 16:9 especially sports channels, why you wanna downgrade 16:9 to 4:3, I don't know about arte, but sometimes 4:3 channels broadcast in 4:3, but when the program is 16:9, the same channel switch to 16:9, is arte 16:9 or 4:3 channel? how do you know the arte movie was in 4:3? if so It's very tough, It means arte will adjust the picture depending on the movie (16:9 or 4:3), if 4:3 they will have to add bars like HD, I think arte wont do that, and you want that dreambox will have some video processing to see how the video was encoded, if 4:3 and the channel is 16:9, dreambox will add bars, very diffucult to realize
is that what you look for?

    Hello
We all know that new boxes will have new BCM4505 tuners, one is already out which is DM500HD, DM800HD se, DM7020HD and the new DM8000HD will follow soon.

As a DM user, many years ago in North africa, and now in North America, I can say that the difference is XXL when It comes to support, I understand that It's related to marketing/sales, after all It's a hobbie for us, but a business for DMM
For n times, the 2 main providers here use Turbo-Fec modulation which is not tuneable by old DMM DVB-S2 BCM4501 tuners, so I can understand the lack of support
but now with the new tuners BCM4505/4506, the turbo-fec feature maybe enabled if you decide to do so, as It's shown in the datasheet
    http://www.broadcom.com/produc…Receiver-Products/BCM4505

Is there any chance they you could release a driver to support turbo-fec?
If no, I really wanna have an answer, what are the limitations? not enough documentation? is it a licence issue? sales issue? not worth it...?
I was in contact of one the DMM developer (before new tuners came out), he showed some empathy regarding this matter, he said that DMM would be happy to support NA users and that the available demodulator chips make it difficult to build respective hardware. Now that the hardware is fully compatible, I really want to know what you think or plan.

I hope other DMM geeks from europe/ME/N.Africa will show some support toward us as well.

    Thanks again

I have big confussion which one will be better for me. Both have very simmilar design with only small diffrences.
500 HD has faster CPU but 800 HD has (originally from the shop) USB connectors. I don't care other diffrences especially OLED display, HDMI connector, box size etc.
The last think I am thinking is receiver temperature, I guess 500HD will be more hot than 800 HD, but I think designers were also aware of this problem.

Are there any other diffrences between this receivers that may influence on my decision?

Does CPU speed influence on something in sat receivers? Channel switching? Booting time?

wait couple of months to get DM800 se, with new processor new tuner

    hello

I open this poll to see your feedback regarding multiboot on enigma2, either BarryAllen or Meoboot
I had kingston 4GB but sometimes I had some issues, like when I reboot I find barry allen with only the flash image without the other multiboot images, even though they are there. sometimes the kingston stops working (no linux partition) and I have to reformat it again
so I believe you guys had such issues, maybe you found a usb stick that doesnt have similar problems, please share the model name and size

    thanks for the feedback

    well
a verified source told me that the new tuners use BCM4505
    according to http://www.broadcom.com/produc…Receiver-Products/BCM4505

    Zitat

Integrated advanced demodulation decoder supports DVB-S2 Broadcast, DVB-S, 8PSK Turbo

wich means the new tuners are turbo-fec capable, now the hardware is there, we just need support from DMM, enabling turbo-fec by releasing drivers would just help the north american DMM users, It will boost your sales as never

I hope I will get a promising answer from DMM Developers

    thanks again
