I've kind of got around this problem by downloading iDreamX and mplayer (there's a download link in iDreamX when you open it if you don't already have mplayer installed). It works perfectly. Still don't know how to record, it starts then stops immediately, but at least I can watch tv on the mac now.

    your question
I've got my mac seeing the dreambox and I can take screengrabs, change channels etc, but I can't play video on the mac. I can't get dreamstream working as it says "connection refused. Web interface is too old". I'm a total newbie with this, so what can I do? It's dreamstream 0.77b and I'm using OSX 10.4.8 The dreambox is new too and was reinitialized only last week.

I downloaded the VLC player plug for safari but when I try to play video using Web-x-tv, I get a message "(no video)" where the video should be.

    any suggestions?

    thanks in advance.

solved! It was a router problem - all ports work fine on the wired linksys router except when the dreambox was plugged into them, then the port died! When I plugged the dreambox into my wireless router, it worked fine! (As soon as I plugged another device into the wired router's dead port, it worked again, so it only died when the creambox was plugged in!!) WEIRD!

    your question
the box is working, but I'm not able to connect to it via dream@home 2.2 pc software. I gave it an ip but my ip sniffer doesn't see it on the network. I'd rather try it on my mac tho - is there a mac equivalent of the dream@home 2.2 software?

what should the settings be in the network window on the dm500?

    ip: 192.168.1.104
    DHCP off
    subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
nameserver: what should this be? I've currently got it set to my router's IP
Gateway: what should this be? I've currently got it set to my router's IP

I just bought a straight cable to go to the router from the DM500, so that ought to be ok. I know the box works cos the dealer just set it all up, but he used his account to do so and I have to reset it to my info.

    thanks in advance.

    your question
The Dreambox works perfectly via the TV. I've set up the dreambox networking using DHCP (also tried without and get same results), set the IP address to 192.168.x.xx (all our macs and PCs have dedicated IP addresses, so I needed to give the dreambox one too), the nameserver and gateway - what should they be set to? I currently have them both the same as my router. I can't access the dreambox from any of our macs or PCs, I can't ping the dreambox's ip address either - something's up - can anyone help? Our router is a Linksys.

I'm using firewalls on all mac and PCs too, is there anything I need to do on them? Although I did try accessing the dreambox with them turned off, and got no further.

    thanks in advance.
