    There ist no problem to lock e.g. DVB-S 11044 V 44950 3/4 on Express AM22 53.0°E with the internal BCM4501 tuner of the DM8000.

    Unfortunately it does not work here on a DVB-S2 45000 service in Australia. No one else has been able to get it working either. Is there any trick or tip to getting it to work?

    Otherwise, has anyone had any luck with getting another tuner to work?

    Hello All,

    Some of the services in my region have recently starting using a 45000 symbol rate. Unfortunately my dm8000 will not do anything above 30000. I understand this is a hardware limitation.

    A few questions:

    1. Is it possibly now or in future to buy a replacement internal DVB-S2 tuner that will do the 45000 symbol rate?
    2. Is it possible to connect it up to a USB tuner that does this symbol rate?
    3. Is there any software fix that might allow this to work?

    thanks!

    Thanks for that, i have installed it and had a play. . It's great! Thank you!

    Am i correct that it only records 4 channels in a row and once you have swtiched over to a 5th channel it stops working?

    Is it possible to make it record over the 1st recording so that it always has a recording of the last 4 programs that you watched?

    These are great but they only work under enigma1. Nothing similar exists for Enigma2 at this stage.

    It appears that OpenTV are becoming very successful at getting their EPGs in use around the world. Most of the News Corp owned companies have switched to it or are switching to it and AFAIK they are the biggest players in the world.

    Reverse engineering the whole OpenTV system (which consists of interactive TV applications as well) would be a great project for someone who knows a lot about these things but i wouldn't expect to it happen in a hurry.

    However, in the meantime, the ability to import XMLTV would be a simple and effective work around!

    I understand the issues with OpenTV (it is the system that foxtel and Austar use in Australia). Obviously it would be great if someone *other* than DMM reverse engineered and developed a plugin but i don't expect DMM to be able to fix it.

    BUT i think it is worth pointing out that XMLTV *IS* an open standard, without license fees and one where there is EPG data available for many countries and services with proprietary EPGs. Perhaps this would be a great work around for the problem for SKY as well as many other services around the world if it could be integrated into the dreambox EPG...

    Do you really need such a long time that it continues to record the old channel bevore switching to the new one ?

    At the moment I planned to implement in the Orwell Permanent Recording Daemon only about 10 sec as Permanent Recording overlapp (so that a quick Zap away and back will not stop recording - and if a goal happened exactly in this time while you zapped, or the murderer was catched you simply would check the permanent recording).

    The main reason is that this works nice when you have both tuners free, but as soon as the second tuner would be busy (recording, streaming, Pip) this would criple your zapping possibilities to the same transponder until the tuner is freed and recording switches to the new channel = deadlock :smiling_face:

    Hmmm. 10 seconds would be good, but being able to make it longer would be better (up to a minute or so). Is it possible to make it configurable through a config file or a menu?

    For me, it shouldn't be too much of a problem if it can only watch service and record another, but as long long as you can turn it off it should be fine.

    Is it possible to make it record the cache to either USB, CF or HDD? In my case would prefer to not use the HDD due to noise and power issues but i have a 1 gig flash drive and 2 gig USB drive that would be ideal for a relatively short caching.

    you dont need to shout!

    this is not a problem of dmm...

    the reason for this is that YOUR tv - stations are not using DVB - standard compatible EPG...

    It was only one sentence of shouting! And yes, I am aware of what the problem is - i have explained that in my post - although i didn't shout it so maybe you didn't read it :smiling_face:

    For those of us that are outside Europe, the development for the dreambox appears to be completely euro-centric so issues that don't affect Europeans tend to be ignored no matter how often they are brought up. It seems that there are changes regularly to Enigma2 to customise it or tweak it for a whole range of European services but no interest in trying to make it work better for non Europeans - even when the changes involved are relatively minor and easy to implement.

    As an example, in the past I've suggested making the MHW EPG pids configurable because it only currently works for European MHW services. If you can localise the Pids it should be able to work in a much wider range of countries but this suggestion has been ignored. Maybe i am wrong, but it doesn't strike me as a massive amount of work to make that value a user configurable variable rather than hard coded?

    I am not saying that the lack of a working EPG is a "problem" of DMMs, but this is the feature request section and a working EPG would be a great feature for all of us that don't have one! The abililty to import an EPG from XML or some other source is a feature that has been requested many, many, many times. It is a solution that will benefit many thousands of dreambox owners all around the world and will end the problem of not being able to access an EPG for people in Australia, Asia, Africa, The Americas and just about anywhere that there is not a standardised (i.e. European) EPG being broadcast.

    Obviously, if the developers are in countries where they have no problem with the EPG on the services that they are using I can see why it isn't important to them. Maybe DMM don't sell many boxes outside Europe so it isn't important to them for that reason. But to those of us (and there are many!) who don't have EPGs on our services (but do have access to XML data) it is a feature well worth requesting.

    q.

    You guys have just bumped a very old thread here (i originally posted all this a year ago!) and i am pleased to see that so much great progress has been made over the course of the last year!

    The biggest problem remains with the EPG. I know from reading on many different forums that Eagle and i am not the only one who are frustrated by the lack of a long range EPG (or any EPG at all) on many channels. I live in Australia, and all the EPG refinements have been designed for European channels and services.

    A LOT OF THE REST OF THE WORLD HAS NO EPG ON MANY CHANNELS!

    The simplest way to solve this (rather than try and write a something that reads all the world's bizarre and localised EPG formats) would be to allow the user to import an EPG from the internet. XMLTV is a standard with scrapers and services for just about everywhere in the world, but .CFE files are also easy to make and may be smaller, simpler and easier to parse - they can be generated easily by EPGcenter (the same format used by MV plugin under enigma1).

    The easiest way to do this would be for someone involved with the development to just write a simple script that reads a file (say CF or HDD/epg.xmltv or epg.cfe) and simply translates the format and writes the program details at a set time or on demand into epg.dat (or wherever the EPG is stored in memory). If a more updated EPG is on the transponder, it could simply overwrite the xmltv version.

    This strikes me as a not particularly difficult piece of coding to do either as a plugin OR as part of enigma2. it is simply coverting a text or XML file?

    Right now over half the channels i have access to have NO EPG and the other half only have NOW/NEXT. But, i can get a XMLTV guide for almost all these channels. Anything you could do to improve this would be GREATLY appreciated.

    q.

    I am glad you have piped in. From searching i know i am not the only one trying to solve this problem.

    I have been experimenting with Canal Caledonie on Intelsat 701 but i believe the same issue applies to Canal Reunion and any other MHW services in French external territories. I read somewhere that showtime Arabia also uses MHW on non European pids.

    With this change, it becomes a very simple fix for the user to make it work anywhere!

    It would be great to hear back from the Enigma2 team about whether they may be able to fix this (or why it is too difficult)...

    q.

    Hello,

    For people outside Europe, the MHW EPG function does not work because the PIDs are hard coded in the epgcache.cpp file. Other services in other countries also use the MHW EPG format but do not use the same PIDs.

    Specifically, the PIDs coded in are (in dec and hex):

    MediaHighway EPG
    210 = d2
    211 = d3

    MediaHighway 2 EPG
    561 = 231
    564 = 234
    566 = 236

    If the developers could PLEASE change it so that these values are variables and editable, that will allow others to use the EPGs that their services broadcast. If you could put these variables in a text file or even a python file, then the end user will be able to adapt MHW for their own services without recompiling the whole image.

    If have done everything i can to work out exactly what needs changing, unfortunately i am not able to recompile an image myself. It would hope that it is a relatively minor change now that it has been pointed out.

    Thanks for the great box and the great software!

    q.

    Yes, the problem still exists here. It would be great if someone from DMM could actually reply because the problem is relatively simple to fix. Surely if you could make the MHWEPG configurable for what channels and pids it uses this would solve this problem???

    Or alternatively, if you could intergrate an XMLTV EPG reader into Enigma2 this would also solve the problem. Most of the python code to read XMLTV already exists for Myth TV for linux - if someone could just integrate this into the EPG on the dreambox, those of us that that have many channels with no EPG would have our problems solved.

    Please! Please! Please!

    I have managed to get that side of it working now.

    Does anyone know how to actiivate the ZAP and timer functions from a plugin (where are the objects in enigma that do this and how do i call them)?

    Also, how do i go about converting a service name to a service reference?

    thanks,

    p.

    Could someone please explain to me how to test a plugin on the dreambox. I am working on a python plugin but when i try and run it from the command line using

    python filename.py

    i get this error (or something like it)

    from Screens.Screen import Screen
    ImportError: No module named Screens.Screen

    Obviously it can't find any of the library files but i am tearing my hair out to try and work out how to make that work...

    Where should i put a plugin while testing it and how should i do it?

    p.

    Dear Dream Team,

    I have had my dm7025 for about 9 months so i thought it might be worth putting together my wish list of what i would like to see developers work on. Before i put this out there, i would like to thank the team and all the image and plugins developers for fixing up many of the issues that weren't working so well when i first got my dreambox 7025!

    I think the Dm7025 is fast moving from the point where it is catching up with its basic functions that needed work to where it can start pulling ahead, so with that in mind, here is my dm7025 wish list:

    + Upnp Client
    This is definately the one that i would most like to see some work on. Now that server programs exist that can transcode media and send it to the dreambox, i would love to see a client that would allow me to watch live streams, downloaded movies, etc. on my DB.

    A client for services such as the TVersity media server (http://tversity.com/) and twonkyvision streamed via local PC. I am not sure how difficult this would be but it would increase the usefulness of the DB many times over and open up a whole new world of content - divx, videocasts, live streaming media, etc. TVersity can use an RSS reader as its interface and can transcode to stream in just about any format - surely it is possible to make a client for this if it works on the PSP and some mobile phones?

    A version on VLCF (which i understand can do some of the same things) would also be great.

    + Enhanced PiP
    This is quite minor, but i would like to see:
    - the ability to show more than two channels
    - the abilty to show one channel in full screen and listen to the audio from another (eg. listen to radio while watching TV in full screen)

    + XMLTV client/ integration into EPG
    Many of the channels available to me have either no EPG or a bad EPG. I can get the raw data from the Web but i can't integrate it into the 7025 dreambox just yet. A fix for this would be awesome.

    + Enhanced EPG features
    Particularly those like the MV plugin provides on the DM500, 7000 etc. Would particularly like to see integration of IMDB reviews, but any other features would be great. MV is one of the best features of the Enigma1 - it would be great to see Dream Multimedia take a lead on porting it or its functionalities over to Enigma2. I also agree with those that have suggested that a cosmetic makeover for the EPG is a good idea.

    + A simple web browser
    A version of links has just become available for Neutrino but a version for Enigma 2 would be a great option.

    + More configuration options for the user for the Media Highway EPG Where i am the MHW EPG uses non standard transponders and non-standard PIDs but the configuration can not be edited by the user. A configuration file to allow me and others to change this would be fantastic (and not that hard?!?!?)

    + Enhanced PVR features
    Particularly a live TV buffer that records whatever you are watching as you go so that you can rewind live tv. Maybe a 1 - 5 minute buffer or so that runs in the background and is not bothered by changing channels?

    + An MP3 podcast client
    There appear to be several command line based clients out there that may simply need an interface for Enigma2? Not a huge priority, but not very hard to do?

    + USB tuner support
    I know this one is a long shot but i have two sat tuners and would love to install an addtional DVB-T via USB. I know that USB 1.2 DVB-T tuners are available and i would love to be able to connect one to the dreambox.

    Thanks, and keep up the good work...

    q.

    My apologies if this is in the wrong section.

    I am down under and trying to get the Media Highway EPG working on Canal Caledonie. Unfortunately the configuration used for this package is dfferent to the european version, certainly in the transponder and rpobably also in the PIDs. There does not appear to be any option to edit the configuration to other than the European defaults?

    Is it possible for a user to do this via menu, shell or FTP?

    Is it possible to add this option if it does not exist already?

    thanks,

    qwertyuiop.
