    Hi!
Translation updating seems to become harder every day.
CVS updating, patching, new plugins, plugins updating and so on.
In this way, even working hard, translations would be always one step backward (when luky).
Every new plugin has new strings to translate, but putting them all toghether into enigma2.mo doesn't seems the right way to go on, also because strings not directly related with enigma2 are discarded and they are to be embedded again every time.
Some plugin have begun to unplug from enigma2.mo to rise a personal .mo file.
Surely this would be the best way to work, .po files are smaller and upkeeping/updating is eased.
But many plugins have really few strings to translate, and building a .mo structure for just ten strings could be senseless.
So, the idea: why don't build a .mo structure under the plugins subdirectory (like /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Locale/....) and make the plugins that don't own a personal .mo file to point to this structure instead to enigma2.mo?
Modify the plugins in this way would be not a hard work, localization of CVS could stay clean, and all the "garbage" will be put in another place.
There will be some another advantages:
    1) the same strings in different context could have not exactly the same meaning and could be localizated more precisely;
    2) The strings, even if the same, can be used in different layers: in one case could be a button label (little space) and in another case part of a menu context (more space).
What do you think (developers and mainly translators) about this?
    Bye!

Thank you. I took the liberty and added it to the CVS.

    =) Thanks!
Just one little thing: the .mo file has to be renamed in FritzCall.mo (without -it) or it can't work.

    Hi! Just another italian tranlation.
This was the time of FritzCall.
Into the .zip only the .po and the .mo files, (no .diff) because the italian language not yet present into this version of the plugin.
    Bye!

PS: 04/08/2008 zip updated with little "cosmetic" updates: some strings where too long to display in a correct way.
    Bye!

    Hi!
Just a little question to developers.
I saw that some string in my italian translation was discarded before inserting into CVS, so I need some informations for the future updates.
Maybe some strings became obsolete or migrated to other .mo (like wirelesslan) or finally wrong - OK, nothing to say.
Translating some other strings may be not very clever: for example in my personal version I tranlated also the whole TimeZone strings (where possible...) - Yes, can be useless... OK, let's say Insane!
But what about some strings like (just few examples)
    "1 hour"
    "1 minute"
"10 minutes" and so on that are used into HDD standby settings
or the strings about the factory reset, or
    "allow zapping via webif"
"autowrite timer" and so on into WebInteface plugin???
They are not useless, can be easily translated, and when localized work fine.
    So why discard them?
    Thanks!

In attachment, the file with the italian locale update for Barry Allen.
Into the .zip, the .po the .mo and the diff files.
It is based on version 4.5.9.
It was strngly revisited because the previous tranlation was rather old and had some little mistakes.
I also tried to fit it more like the recent update for italian CVS locale I posted.
Let me know if any problem is found.
    Bye!

    Hello!
Updating the italian locale for enigma2 (7025) I found that in some modules there are some strings not properly structured for right translation. Poedit gived me some warnings related to tuple using instead of format strings with named arguments.
So I tried to modyfy the source according this way.
In attachment the .diff files I made.
    If could be useful... :face_with_rolling_eyes:
    Bye!
