sorry, I know it's bad form to reply to my own posts, but some help would have been nice

I've worked out that it is not possible to save entries in the Web Timer GUI because the actually _do_ have illegal characters in the titles. I think this is because when the entry is generated (by pressing the Red button during a programme, or selecting Add Timer from the info screen), the rogue characters are not filtered out. There is a non-printable UTF16 character at the end of the entry - you can't see it in the web page, but it _is_ really there.

I suspect that the UTF16 characters originate from the BSkyB programme info.

The ability to have the programme details retrieved from each repeat recording would be a great mod though ....

    Thanks for your reply magnum.

I guess the answer to my question is no! it is not possible to Convert to MP3 and tag without using a PC

    Ta,

Is it possible to record a radio station and get the output saved as a tagged MP3 file on the dreambox, without hacking a TS file on a PC.

I'd like to record lots of radio, but in TS format, it takes up a lot of disk space!

    I have a DM7025.

    Thanks,

Please provide some information about the hard- and software used.

    Box type: 7025
    GUI (enigma1/enigma2): enigma2
    Firmware version: latest

When setting up a repeated record on the 7025 (say, every Thursday) - the synopsis description of every episode is the same as the first. Would it be possible to obtain the description dynamically from the programme, rather than statically from the timer.xml file?

Also, it is not possible to change the description from the web GUI because an alert box pops up telling me that I have invalid characters in the description (even when the description is empty) - this code is in the timer.js file.

    Thanks,

    Steve

There are products out there called 'progressive scan converters', so if you get no luck, you could always buy one of these. - e.g. Google for "BLS2000 progressive scan".

    S.

Or if this is not possible, would it be atleast possible to specify the channel number so that a dreambox can be manually set up to use the same numbers as the provider .. for example, BSkyB first channel is 100 - it is possible to set up my channels in the same order as Sky, but the numbering automatically starts at 1 !

    Box type: 7025

I use the Dreambox, with a disk mounted across the network, and it seems odd that the share must be /mnt/hdd for it to work.

I have also noticed that the video playback uses /hdd and the time shift uses /mnt/hdd.

Would it be possible to standardise on a naming convention that supports different applications and different disk locations, for example, soft linking /video to wherever the appropriate disk or share is?

Thanks SBT ... do you know if there are any plans to support mono MP3s?

Ive also tried some other combinations, and have found that stereo 64Kbps files do not seem to work either - 96Kbps stereo work OK. Ive not tried joint stereo.

I have also noticed that the fast-forward and rewind options in media player don't work (certainly with 30 minute, 96Kbps Stereo MP3s, stored on a network mounted drive).

I have a series of MP3 files, encoded using 'lame', and tagged using an id3lib application - the tags include an image of the cover.

The MP3 files are low bitrate (48Kbps), and mono.

MediaPlayer does not appear to extract or use any of the ID3V2 tags - I can understand this if the ID3V2 code has not yet been implemented - however, Mediaplayer refuses to play these files at all:

I Have a short (13Kb) MP3 file that will not play, but am unable to attach it to this message.
