A little bit louzy that neither the instruction page (http://www.dream-multimedia-tv.de/dm7025/dreamup.php) nor the DreamUp software itself indicate that you need both the serial link and the network.
Now up to the next phase - finding something that makes my Dutch Canal Digitaal card working.
Dreamup: yes, in the same IP range and the first 3 parts are identical (same subnet).
Connection is through a switch. Hmm could try direct connection but need to setup a DHCP server then on my pc.
Webinterface: yes I tried it serveral times as I indicated. I tried your suggestion to disable the firewall but still the update fails.
I try to install the latest official release from april 29th.
I have found the version number of the firmware in /etc/image-version. It is 20060112 so indeed it needs to be updated.

I cannot get Samba to work correctly on my DM7025S.
Get these errors in /tmp/smb.log, maybe someone has an idea where the problem is:

Looking on the internet the suggestion is that the loopback adapter is not installed. That's correct, ifconfig does not show it. Any idea how to create it?
Probably these problems have to do with old firmware, but I cannot get the box flashed.

I found the software level is 20060112 so indeed it needs an update.
I have more or less the same kind of troubles.
Tried to flash through the webinterface, both in Linux (Firefox) and in Windows XP (IE, Firefox). Failed, sometimes after 15 seconds or so, sometimes after a longer period.
Tried the latest version of DreamUp (1.2.2.0) through network connection. Powered down the dreambox, pressed the connect button, powered on the dreambox, nothing happens. The software does not recognise the dreambox. I am very sure IP adresses are correct.
Last chance is to find a serial null modem cable and try through the serial port ...
I still have a working system, just bought it two weeks ago, but running on older software I believe.
Where can you find the version that is installed in the box?
