HI all
Can the DM500 (Or any dream box) be controlled through the rs232 port. I ant to use it with my automation program - like amx/crestron to control the box.
Does the api exist anywhere for it for the serial port.
THanks
Mick

A note on NTFS - not many system can write to a NTFS partitioned drive. Most can read only.
If you want to use a drive and use a format that is MS compatible then use fat32. Fat32 is all that is needed as it is faster and security is not an issue.

Thanks again
I have a DM500 so it does not have a HDD. Does that would mean that unless I have mounted a drive the epg data would not exist?
I do have a drive mounted and I can find that file but it has not been modified for a couple of days (5), so I assumed that it was something else to do with epg.
We only get now and next and I want to manually add a couple of days worth.
Mick
ahh excellent thanks
What about epg data, is that stored in a file somewhere that can be viewed and/or edited

Hi all
Is there a how-to on setting timers from an external program.
I know there is a timer.epl file - but I dont know where it is.
I have seen the contents of the file from other sources and can understand most of it, but I want to learn how to create my own.
Thanks
Mick
I used DCC and did a backup and it created a timer.epl file. I have not found this file yet on the box, is it an actual file or does it create this and timers are embedded in another file?
Can anyone explain this line
#SERVICE: 1:0:1:3f3:1:1000:6180000:0:0:0:
I know the 3f3 is the service ID
1:1000 is the transponder.
What about the rest
Thanks
Mick
I finally have my first dreambox.
I have been setting timers via the web interface and it got me curious. Where does the timer information reside. Is it a file somewhere on the system, or buried deeply somewhere else.
Are there any utilities for setting timers other than the web interface?
Thanks
Mick
