    Hi all.

I hear from many people that the newest drivers (here since 12 November 2011) are buggy.
With a result of hanging boot proces (only black display with dhcp visable). It hangs at flash://vmlinuz dhcp (this happens with a warm reboot, a cold reboot(power interruption) solves it. But say of the 4 warm reboots it goes 1 time wrong.
Sometimes it booted, but then their was no audio. Also after some time switching from teletext no scaling of screen.
People with DM800HD, and DM8000 HD PVR and 7025 HD experience this.
The drivers of 2 September 2011 release don't have the bug described above.
When can we expect new drivers for HD Dreamboxes?
So that the HD Dreamboxes work bugfree & stable. And is it possible that Ghost work with Felix on the drivers?

It's working out of the box.

Only advise i'd like to give is: Buy a hybrid tuner with no screw that connects print with metal backplate (my photo's is type with screw as you see).
Because if it has screw, then you have the chance that the pins doesn't fit good because of wrong distance between print pins and metal backplate. result is a tuner loop boot.
So get one like in the first posting, no screw at backplate, then backplate is more flexible in position, and then the tuner will fit correctly in tuner slot.
This type of tuner works in: DM8000 HD PVR, DM800 HD, DM800 and DM7025 HD.

I think you don' t get the consequences of all that stuff right.

    1) Are image builders still able to build their own images with newest kernels / drivers / features ? Yes they are !!!!

    2) Are they able to modify core enigma2 files for some very special features? No they are not, but dmm is working on the Integration of patches from that iamages, that they find to be useful, and for others they create interfaces that can be used.

    1) I read on the internet ccp code is closed source. Kernel and features is by ccp code right?
    2) Dream Multimedia is not allowed to change GPL licensed work to their own close license. That is in violation of GPL licenses!!

Well you know, as soon as dream has imlemented CEC-Support enigma2 will also support it.
So I don't see any real reason about question other than vu+/ct etc boxes.

And I NEVER said you're being sponsored by 3rd-party stb-distributors... so I can't see any reason why you seem to feel the need to defend about that...

HDMi-cec support is just a example(it's not necessary tho, on dreamboxes with DVI-D video connection).

How about the old kernel, and outdated drivers? (with examples: no ext4 filesystem support, no blindscan and so on)
Since the enigma2 developer is away from Dream Multimedia it's all standing still. That is also a reason why people don't want a Dreambox anymore. (not the expensive price).
And that people want a non Dream Multimedia image ,is because original; DMM image is way to limited. Officially you cannot watch TV/radio that is not FTA on a dreambox, because the smartcard doesn't work in the build in cardreaders.

So i hope Dream Multimedia will think good about this, don't exclude external image builders from enigma 3 & 4. (really don't)
If Dream Multimedia exclude external image builders by don't give right trough license (like no GPL licenses) to build on enigma3/4 then no one wants a dreambox because of: outdated Linux kernel, outdated drivers(&functions).
External image builders can keep enigma 3/4 away from none-dreambox devices if licenses say so.
I mean look at mytube & webif plugins. You don't find those latest versions on images for none dreambox devices. And look at how long it takes before a bug is solved. Some image builders can fix it in 2 days, DMM takes months or almost a year(example subtitle bug).

Dream Multimedia will not get better by this non GPL stuff (i think).
I mean look at webif plugin licenses(newer versions only on dreamboxes), the result is that their is a development going on with lots of motivated people to work (is already going on) on OpenWebif. A Opensource version of web interface. See attached screenshot.

Would be nice if we can download uptodate dreamup from official dmm website, as *.rpm and *.deb Linux packages. Or added it in Linux distribution repositories, so that every Linux user can easily install Dreamup by their package manager.

Not every pc is windows you know.

Is enigma3.x or enigma 4.x only as image of Dream Multimedia?
If so, then why does a dreambox has cardreaders build in if the Dream Multimedia image don't support them. And why does my satellite provider (Canal Digitaal) give me a smartcard?

If i want to use a opensource youknowwhat-cam (yes we know the name, but i can't type it here, because of %$#&^@!# forum rules) to watch my sat tv/radio programs LEGALLY, then i cannot use newer future enigma 3.x and 4.x.. I mean i do my LEGAL smartcard in the smartcardreader that is NOT supported by enigma 3.x 4.x from Dream Multimedia.

Hmm then why do we need a Dreambox? I love my Dreambox, it's a awesome device, but why does Dream Multimedia makes it so difficult to the people who buy a original dreambox to get it working in away how the user wants it. (legal of course).

I send tuner card back to seller, and asked him friendly if it's possible to look for other tuner card of same type, that has less distance between tuner pins and tuner backplate.

    Because :
-or the tuner is in wrong size(just a few millimeters)
-or the motherboard of my Dm8000(original) is mounted a few millimeters too much to the back of the device.

See picture, distance between the two red dots is a few millimeters too much. result is, the pins don't fit correct in tunerslot.

Can Dream Multimedia give feedback. is this something that can happen, that a tuner card is out of size. Just a few millimeters, but enough to give trouble.

    i received the card today.
it's a original one of dream multimedia.

But it doesn't fit in my DM8000.
The card cannot fit straight in the tunerslot. :loudly_crying_face:

The back of the card (round part of metal plate) cannot get deep enough to fit correctly. So it's like on the images below. The top of the metal plates arwe equal in the tuner. But as you see, the one on the card isshorter, and the print doesn't go deep enough in the slot at the back of the dm8000.

It their a difference between tuner cards size for DM8000 and other tuner cards for other dreamboxes?

I attach two images of tunercard and default metal slot of my dm8000.
As you see, the original tuner slot cover/metal plate is longer then the one on the card. The card cannot fit deep enough in the tunerslot(at rear side of slot).

So not all dream multimedia tunercards (like this LG hybrid dvb-c/t) fit in a dm8000?

I get in a few days this tuner card:
Hybrid DVB-C / T Tuner CXD 1981 Plug & Play LG chip fitted for the Dreambox DM8000 HD PVR, HD DM800, DM800 and DM7025 HD (+).
I bought this, because the idea that DVB-C(HDTV compatible) and DVB-T is in one card, is just awesome.

    [Blockierte Grafik: http://www.parabola.cz/img_magazin/2011/novinky-dm-hybridni-tuner.jpg]

Does that tuner runs out of the box, on any enigma2 image?
Because the specs say that switching between DVB-C and DVB-T is done by software.
Or is a specific *.ipk installer file nessesary?

    I have the DM8000 back, bootloader 84 and Openpli2.1beta.

When i was flashing images a week ago, just at that moment the house owner was busy on the roof at 6 high.(I live on ground level, so my dish is hard to get to)
The man accidentally pushed my dish about 20 centimeters out of position. Without realizing that it has much impact on me. Because i was busy with flashing, and saw bootloader changing, i thought that the tuners in DM8000 didn't function properly.
But i assume it is not the DM8000, but the dish position.
This Thursday a company will re position the dish to maximum signal level. I think that is the reason why my DM8000 don't receive anything now.

Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate that.
The DM8000 is now at the store where i bought it, they try to recover the DM8000.
I send them a email with this 84 bootloader attached, and asked them to flash 84 bootloader serial, then when succeed, switch off, and on and flash original dream multimedia image by ethernet.

    I hope it works....

I try already at home to flash more then one time with ethernet and serial, but the bootloader 82/79 didn't change/tuners didn't receive, that's why i bring it back to store.

Thanks again. I hope i get soon a message of store where dm8000 is.

    Thanks for reply.
    Well, i didn't do strangethings.
I assume a Dreambox is build to flash images for that type of dreambox. In my case a DM8000.
I did follow the flash instructions. But one image (opendreambox if i'm right) did change the bootloader in a way, that it's not changed anymore when flashing a other image (like openpli or original dream multimedia image).
So i did flash my original DM8000 with original Dream Multimedia image for DM8000, by ethernet and by serial, butt he weird bootloader won't change to version 83 that is in the flashed image.

I bring the DM8000 back to the store where they try to fix this issue.
Only down part is, i have to pay for the DM8000 fix (if it's possible) and the DM8000 still is in it's warranty period.

If i flash for example original Dream multimedia image for DM8000, then it seems to work, only the tuners (onboard 2x DVBs2) don'treceive anything anymore.(fta sd & HD channels also not possible)

So what can i as end consumer, who bought this DM8000 do now?

[Moderator]No support for other then original DMM Images. [/Moderator]

Ok, but can you answer, if DM8000 tuners doesn't work/receive because of changed bootloader from a image flash, is that covered by warranty?
I mean, can i conclude that:
A Dreambox of more then thousand euro's (DM8000), has the legal option to flash it's running software. You mean it doesn't have any warranty (European Union rules say 2 years) to let the Dreambox work properly again if you flash the device?

What are Dream Multimedia official option to DM8000 warranty?
