  • Scanning a tuner by a linux command or a script

    several years ago i have wrote my own /usr/script/zap_to_every_transponder.sh (chmod 755)

    to able collect new services on stored transponders and register gone transponders

    that worked well on the dm8000, but became useless on dm9*0

    cause on lost transpoders newer Enigma2 shows random dB values for the signal

    and i lost ability detect is it tuned or not, older Enigma2 shows small dB values when tune failed.


    p.s.

    Enigma1 had `Signal Lock` info in the web-if while Enigma2 doesn't :frowning_face:

    looks like problem hasn't connection on powering of tuner modules,

    must be something another (since beginning of 2019.)


    look, i chose to stop weekly scheduled recording from the GUI in case i were already on the same service

    and at the same time i stopped recording the main screen freezed too,

    then i focused on signal info shown in the Info Bar and it's were ok,

    if wait minute another then numbers behind dot were changeing

    also DWs time were changing while picture were standstill

    i were ready pay extra for dm920, but they didn't ask me.

    as final i had to order Tripletuner to able receive DVB-T signal

    then after few months noticed two tunuers aren't enough for me

    as result had to sell away dm900 with Tripletuner by 300e

    and order new dm920 with two Tripletuners for 515e


    btw dm7080 weren't cheaper than dm900

    lucky you if your dm7080 didn't contain extra tuners,

    i sent dm7080 with Twin DVB-S2 and Two DVB-T, but received dm900 with twin DVB-S2,

    two of four tuners were gone without asking me :frowning_face:

    i have only one guess theory,


    when tuner A1 is recording and tuner A2 is stopped to use then both A* tuners lose power supply




    another mystery for me, how does tuner's priority works

    i have tried all the orders and small or big numbers, but in all cases for 36 East first choost tuner always were B1,

    the only way to use signal from A* were completely disabled B*

    with enabled option `Clear before scan`
    service is stored that way

    maybe because on dreambox.de i didn't find this picture? asked then Google
    or maybe cause it's not produced several years
    and huge count of customers even don't know Dremboxes had lot better RC as now?


    this old school is the best:
    for handling in any hand, no matter left or right
    for access functions without looking to RC


    yes, there were some reception problems with dm8000
    and originals doesn't have learning function,
    but improve these positions doesn't require changes in design.
    why invent bicycle?!
    of course there are also worse examples - TVs every year have new design RCs
