Create a partition with an ext or FAT filesystem labeled as "DREAMFLASH" on the USB device

Than copy the imagefile to the device and rename it, if necessary, to dreambox-image-dm520.tar.xz

Plugin the device and reboot the dreambox

Hi, thanks for sharing this information.

I have successfully flashed various images on dm520. Also guided the other dm users.

But now this DREAMFLASH method is not working on my dm520, anymore.

    Need your guidance.

    Regards

    I reply to myself:
yes it is possible but only in rescue mode which autoflashd daemon is running and the image name should be in this format, "dreambox-image-dm920.tar.xz" for dm920 box.

Here's is easy method to Flash any Image on Dreambox (DM520, DM900 and DM920 etc), without Internet Connection. I explain here for DM520

    1- Format USB with Fat-32

    2- USB label " DREAMFLASH "

3- Copy image to USB Drive

    4- Rename image " dreambox-image-dm520.tar.xz "

    5 Insert USB to receiver

6 Now from standby menu select Recovery Mode

or Shut Down your receiver and then press and hold touch button of receiver

or from telnet give any one of below commands

    to-the-rescue

    or

    echo "rescue" >> / proc / stb / fp / boot_mode

    reboot

Note: If receiver is on red light then first power off your receiver from rocker switch.

Then power on your receiver and touch and hold front touch panel within 500 ms to bring receiver into Rescue Mode

I think there is need for updatatin of rescue.

Before I have several time flashed image through the method given in the link below.

I don't have ethernet connection to Dreambox. Only through wifi I can connect.

It would be great, if you share method / link to flash image from USB or /tmp folder by telnet command.

Through Telnet I have flashed its rescue image.

As already mentioned in above post. You can flash any image of your choice. Before flash just rename it " dreambox-image-dm520.tar.xz ".

    Code
    [*] Removing volume 0 from /dev/ubi0
    [*] Creating volume 0 on /dev/ubi0 (dreambox-rootfs)
    Set volume size to 503078912
Volume ID 0, size 3962 LEBs (503078912 bytes, 479.8 MiB), LEB size 126976 bytes (124.0 KiB), dynamic, name "dreambox-rootfs", alignment 1
[*] Creating ubifs filesystem on /dev/ubi0_0
    [*] Mounting '/dev/ubi0_0' to '/mnt'
    [*] Extracting '/tmp/8oykWw' to '/mnt'
    Segmentation fault
