I know some vendors' implementation of CEC is horrible, additionally, the TV is quite old, so one can't really hope Samsung will fix it and that's exactly the reason I am asking here

Because here come the people who might have had a similar setup and found a solution already and the other reason is that Reichi could adjust the CEC plugin to make a workaround possible, either via the vendor specific or the experimental extension or implement the suggested blocklist.

The old AVR had a learning RC, so I could use its remote to start the TV as well and so could have just two RCs on the table, it was the same with DMs RC10. But the new AVR RC is not able to control the TV via infrared, it looks like they have bet everything on CEC.

It has been years since I tried to solve the "too many RCs on the table" situation with CEC, I really hoped the new AVR could change the game.

Yesterday I found out one can learn the RCU-BT to control other devices via the irdb.json, so there is a chance I could have just 2 RCs on the table again, but today I learned that I must find someone with Dreambox one or two to do the update

    thanks for helping

    Hi there,

I have finally replaced my AV receiver with one having HDMI inputs. I have connected my DM920 with the receiver and hooked the TV on it too.

Yesterday I was quite happy it works how I always wanted it, when I power the Dreambox the TV and AVR are powered on too, the same goes for shut down. Having the volume control redirected to AVR, I don't need any other RC most of the time.

But during the night Dreambox powered on and started the AVR too (luckily the AVR power on volume limit was set quite low, so nobody was woken). The TV stayed off.

I have been able to reproduce it in the morning. I am not sure I am reading the log properly, but it looks like the TV is starting to communicate after being in stanby for 45 minutes and wakes the Dreambox, which wakes the AVR. I was able to prevent Dreambox from being woken byt disabling the option "Power on/off based on CEC Events", but this also prevented to wake Dreambox up while switching the AVR input from Radio to Dreambox. Is there any way to blocklist the TV to ignore its power on requests while allowing it from the AVR?

If not, how difficult would it be to extend the "Power on/off based on CEC Events" options by two blocklists, one for Power-on and other for Power-off)?

And as it looks, I have one additional issue with the TV doing something after 45 minutes, what puts it in a state which makes it immune to the CEC Power on calls, the only way to power it on is via the Samsung RC. In the attachments you can see the logs from each of the 3 phases. First when I put the Dreambox to Standby, second where you can see the communication from TV and third, where I Powered on the Dreambox, where it didn't wake up TV.

Please can somebody look at the logs, see if I interpret the logs properly and if there is some extra command or sequence of commands to wake the TV from the strange state.

Thanks, and have a peaceful and relaxing festive season!

I have changed the B1 config to advanced and it helped, now it prevents to zap to channel from different satellite.

I would however expect this to work the same way in simple mode, but never mind I am lucky that it works

    thanks!

    Hi,

I have just replaced my DM7080HD with DM920, I have got one with the Multistream FBC TWIN TUNER.

I have decided to accompany it with the TripleTuner I used as a second tuner in the 7080.

The Inverto LNB (IDLB-QUDL42-UNR2L-1PP) is connected to the box via 2 cables.

The first, attached to the LNB1 port of the triple tuner, goes via the Dish motor to the Legacy port of the LNB.

The second, attached to the LNB1 port of the Twin FBC tuner, goes to the Unicable port of the LNB.

The configuration of the tuners is described below.

I had an issue that when switching to a channel on another satellite (Astra 19.2), the dish moved OK, but it didn't want to move the dish back after switching to a channel on the primarily used satellite (23.5E).

Changing the priority of the FBC tuner from "auto" to 1 solved it.

Everything seems to work now, except current config doesn't prevent it from moving the dish while recording a channel on Astra 23.5E

Well and yesterday evening I could see that one recording via the B1 tuner greyed out channels from all the other frequencies.

Can you please check the config and help me to find what's wrong in it?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi guys,

It's been few months I have started to solve the situation where since 1st of July Plex stopped to provide EPG for Czech TV channels .

Because I am not a developer and I don't understand python I have put together few PowerShell scripts which run on my Plex Server windows machine and pull the EPG from my dreambox.

And that's where I realized that there are holes in the EPG data on various channels.

It didn't occur to me before, because one never goes through the whole list of EPG events if all the events have the extended description.

For example on the Film Europe channel where it is worst, I can see the times and event tittles for 7days in to the future, but the extended description only for 4 days.

On other channels I could see blank descriptions in the middle of the list.

I have tried various things even the reset of epg.db, but the EPG never downloaded fully, there were always some blank places.

I have tried to configure the EPGrefresh plugin, from the time-based duration (120 seconds) to the automatic and then back and enhanced the time 400 seconds to overcome the issue, but it doesn't seem to help. In the journal log It looks like it stops the caching of events after much less than the 400 seconds e.g. around 100 seconds and then waits 60 minutes.

    How can I troubleshoot it?

I remember in the past I was able to save the stream and extract the text stream from it, but I can't find how I did it, if it isn't just a made up story in my brain

Does anybody have an advice for me?

    thanks

My bad, I should have mentioned that I thought so mainly, because then they could work on the translation in parallel, without doing a double work.

    Hi Belp,
    thanks for trying to help.
But I will leave the way I power it on, the way it has been since I bought it.
Because with the TV model I have, powering on the TV with dreambox works just a while.
Always only until the TV is in standby for a longer time, then the TV ends up in a state where it ignores any CEC commands.
This happens in 100% cases over night.

I have just changed it little bit more to make it working better when changing the HDMI inputs on TV.
When I now change the HDMI source from HDMI1 (DM7080) to HDMI3 (NUC) the dreambox goes to standby and vice versa.
Attached are the screenshots with the options how I currently have it.

    regards

Yesterday I spent half of the day playing with the settings again, but without any influence on the issue.
In the end I came to the idea disconnect the TV from power supply and guess what?
    it helped...
it looks like the TV cached something and disturbed the CEC communication somehow.

    Hi there
I have configured the box for my father in law at our place.
There was no issue with searching of the DVB-T/T2 channels even by running the search subsequently.
Today he went back to his place and when he tries the automatic search he gets immediately an error "search failed" or something similar.
However some of the DVB-T2 channels we found here at my place work also at his place, it looks like some of the multiplexes share the same frequency.

Anyone any idea what could be wrong?

    happy new year!

    Hi,

I have been using the TV to switch on my dreambox since ever, because my TV (Samsung LE46A950) never wanted to be switched on by dreambox.
This worked quite reliable until a recent update of my DM7080.

Now whenever I switch the TV on, the dreambox starts too, but after few seconds the dreambox switches off again.
When I then switch the dreambox on too soon after that it switches on and few seconds later off again.
When I power on the dreambox again it stays on.

I have tried to tune the CEC settings, but no success.
See my current settings screenshot and the log in the attached files.

    thanks for any hint

Today I have tried a different USB DVD drive.
DVD video discs play OK, but I couldn't find any way how to play CD audio discs.

It however looks like the system sees the disc and all its 12 tracks like the previous device.
Any hint how to play the disc?

    thanks
