Dreambox 7025 and USB key

  • Hi @ll,

As I needed to upgrade the dreambox to the current firmware version I wanted to create a backup first to the USB key.

Unfortunately none of the keys I tried seem to work.

I have tried with 3 different USB keys but the only notification I see on the dreambox is:
"Sorry your Backup destination does not exist Please choose an other one.”

I specially bought today a My Flash 1GB USB 2.0
My older Kingston Datatraveller 256 MB
    A HP 128 MB.

In telnet: ls /dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/disc maar krijg als result
    No such file or directory.

I then used a tool called Dreambox Control Center, but the same result.

Could not start /dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/disc --- No such file or
    directory

The device apparently does not exist; did you specify it correctly?

Finally I created a backup to the hard disk and upgraded to firmware Release 2.2 from 25.01.2007 but even with this version the USB is not working.

Am I missing something, or do I need a plugin in order to get the USB working?

  • So this means that out of the box, there is no USB support. Even when using the original firmware from DreamMultimedia?

So you mean an image from a 3rd party?

  • I've had a similar problem a few month ago. Use the "search"-Routine in this board and search for "automount".

Edit: Maybe you'll get some answers there:

  • The problem is that most of the postings are in German, and let us say that I never received any German class.

How come there is no FAQ of these types of issues in English?

Now I still don't know if my box is faulty or if it is just a configuration problem.

  • Okay I finally got it working by using the instruction from this link USB - Stick an 7025, Was ist zu tun ? USB - Stick an 7025, Was ist zu tun ?

Don't ask me what I did, I just copied and paste the instructions in Telnet and then I could format the usb key with Flashwizard and made a backup of the full/etc directory.

Thanks all for pointing me in the correct direction.

  • That's great. Therefore the thread's name is "Was ist zu tun ?" = "What to do ... "

    Just enter

    modprobe ohci-hcd
    modprobe sd_mod
    modprobe usb-storage

via telnet, that's it to get the USB - Stick beeing recognized.

Nevertheless I recommend you to install the automount-plugin, otherwise after a reboot the usb-key won't be recognized anymore.

Afaik the install manual of the automount-plugin is in English. If you cannot find the plugin within this board area, Google may be your good friend.
