WSS 16:9 / 4:3 failure

  • I've noticed that the selection of "always 16:9" is dependant of which hardware type you've got by checking the setupvideo.cpp

Why is that? Isn't the dm500 capable of just VIDEO_CENTER_CUT_OUT
    or whatever it's called.

Seems like the WSS doesn't work on my TV, can somebody confirm that this works at all?

Only the SCART Pin8 signals proper aspect ratio. in 16:9 mode.

But I'd like to use the component video out instead of RGB, so I'm in need of proper WSS signalling, or the "always 16:9" mode where black bars are added to the sides when showing 4:3 material.

  • Mal ne bescheidene Frage: wofür steht eigentlich WSS ? Wide Screen irgendwas ? Hab das bei denAudio/Video-Einstellungen schon gesehen und konnte da nix mit anfangen.

Ups, sorry it's in German ...I just want to know what WSS means.

  • WSS = Wide Screen Signaling

It's used to inform the TV which aspect ratio the video signal got.

The information is encoded in the analog video signal and thus not dependant on additional data pins as in the SCART connector.

However haven't got this feature to work yet even though it should.
