Rescue Mode - Waiting for DHCP problem

  • athart

Changed the title of the thread from “Rescue Mode_Waiting for DHCP” to “Rescue Mode - Waiting for DHCP problem”.
  • I think there is need for updatatin of rescue.

Before I have several time flashed image through the method given in the link below.

Edited once, last by athart ().

  • Here's is easy method to Flash any Image on Dreambox (DM520, DM900 and DM920 etc), without Internet Connection. I explain here for DM520

    1- Format USB with Fat-32

    2- USB label " DREAMFLASH "

3- Copy image to USB Drive

    4- Rename image " dreambox-image-dm520.tar.xz "

    5 Insert USB to receiver

6 Now from standby menu select Recovery Mode

or Shut Down your receiver and then press and hold touch button of receiver

or from telnet give any one of below commands

    to-the-rescue

    or

    echo "rescue" >> / proc / stb / fp / boot_mode

    reboot

Note: If receiver is on red light then first power off your receiver from rocker switch.

Then power on your receiver and touch and hold front touch panel within 500 ms to bring receiver into Rescue Mode

  • Shure, it is still working

The dreamflash daemon is a part of the rescue-loader. If it no longer works, you are either doing something wrong or the box or the rescue loader is broken. But without further information there is no way to help.

On my dm7080 suddenly the netcard died. I dont know what it was but only works via wifi usb. Then when i reboot in rescue mode appear the message on lcd screen waiting for dhcp........ but never got IP address.

I have tried with the method in post #3 with merlin and BH images but doesn´t get to run the flash process.

  • Which resue loader is installed? The latest? Previous versions do not support flashing by USB.

There are at least 4 reasons why it will not work. So "it does not work" is definitely not enough information

    i have installed

    Enigmaversion: 4.3.3r3-2021-10-29

    Imageversion: Experimental 2021-10-29

    Webifversion: 1.9.0

    FPversion: 1.2

    Devicename: dm7080

so will be the last one vmlinux.gz-rescue-3.4-r1-dm7080-20201201.bin

  • Did you format the USB Device with FAT32 or ext4?

Did you correctly labeled the fist partition with capital letters? -> DREAMFLASH

Did you use the HP bootdisk tool for FAT32? Fast formating under Windows probably does not work.

Does the box boot into the rescue-loader without flashing or does the box boot only the flash image?

Does the box work correctly when booted from flash - except the defective NIC?

If the latest rescue-loader is installed, flashing via USB works without any problems as long as all instructions are followed. If not, something was done wrong or the box is defective.

Wifi USB is not working in rescue mode ... therefore you can wait very long to get an ip address

  • DeamUp is useless in this case. It does not support dreamboxes with an ext4 file system in Flash or image tarballs ...
