Dreambox 900 + Zalman. Fan mod.

    Hi everyone. I've made my own solution of cooling Dreambox 900. I glad to share my expirience. Movie has subtitles.

    Main ideas:
    1. Zalman has good height for fit in case of Dreambox.
    2. Dreambox has a supply connector for attch Zalman.
    3. Active cooling the best way for significantly reduce the temperature on the processor.
    4. I used nylon thread to attach the heatsink to the motherboard. I believe it is reliable and will not damage the small parts around the processor. The metal mount can create a short circuit, so you don't need to use it.
    5. U can use a different mounting option. Be careful not to damage small parts.

    In my posts and videos (YouTube) I've given solutions of problems such as:

    1. Fix the problem with YouTube. (API and token for YouTube. Look a video on my YT chanel). Also, to see subtitles, you need to enable them in the YouTube player settings;

    2. Solving the problem when the receiver doesn't get an IP address by the computer. Configuretion: DM - LAN - PC - "wireless conection" - WI-FI router. (post on the DM forum)

    3. Idea, that Zalman has good height for fit in case of Dreambox. Nylon thread - it's just an option. You can make your own mount.

    4. Also, I have idea how fix an issue with BT Remoute control. Perhaps in future I'll give it.

    kleine Anmerkung, sie sprechen von 2mm, welche an den Bolzen vom originalem Kühlkörper entfernt werden müssen.

    Das ist falsch! Es ist genau 1mm! Ich habe das bei meinen 3 DM9X0 gemacht, gute Wärmeleitpaste darunter, und wieder angeschraubt. Das bringt 15°C weniger!

    Hängt wohl von der Produktion ab.


    ich hatte eine dm900 bei man mehr als 2mm abfeilen konnte, ohne dass der Kühler die CPU berührte, nachdem man das arme Stück Alu malträdierte ...

    hmm. Das pad ist auch genau 1mm hoch. Ich habe das entfernt und immer 1/10mm abgefräst, dann immer wieder durch auflegen vom Kühlkörper den Spalt geprüft.

    Bei genau 1mm lagen die Bolzen auf der Leiterplatte und dem SoC auf.

    So eine starre Verbindung ist eigentlich aber auch suboptimal. Besser wäre es, den Anpressdruck mit Federn zu erreichen. Weil der SoC sich ja etwas ausdehnt, und weil er eben auch nicht immer gleich hoch montiert ist, wie eure 2mm beweisen.

    OK, also gibt es da kein festes Maß, jeder muss das für sich ausmessen. Wichtig auf jeden Fall, die Bolzen nicht zu kurz machen!

    You can use a rubber washer (gasket), like a dielectric spring. Set it on backside of motherboard under screw. A little bit shorter radiator supports (after cut) also OK. Rubber washer will сompensate for this by pulling.

    I thought to do this, but found a more interesting option with active cooling.

    Für mich ist die Kühllösung der dm9x0 schlicht eine Fehlkonstruktion. Einfach lassen wie es ist und einen kleinen Lüfter mit 5V über USB betreiben wenn es sein muss, wenn man dann ein besseres Gefühl bei der Sache hat ....

    Den MOF-SET meiner dm900 hab ich bei meinen Lüfterexperimenten geschrottet, jetzt kommt bei den 12V des Lüfteranschlußes gar nichts mehr an, sprich ist tot ...


    Amtlich vom DP Support nach Reparaturversuch bestätigt!


    Garantietausch des Mainboards ausgeschlossen - der Lüfteranschluß war von Beginn an ein Fake bzw. nicht für den Betrieb eines Lüfters vorgesehen.

    Der Anschluß wurde ja erst durch ein Update aktiviert, nachdem das Geschrei immer lauter wurde :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

    I can make a PWM controller by upgrading the DC-DC converter. This works with an NTC resistor. The fan speed will depend on the temperature in the case. In my computer, this one is installed and controls two 140 mm fans. Power supply 12 volts.


    But I didn't it for DM and not use any plugin, because coler works without any noise.

    No need to cut there, sold a set of copper plates gi diameter 20-20 and 25-25 mm thickness from 0.2-2 mm, you insert between the processor and the radiator and that's it

    between them, spread thermal paste or thermal pad with a thickness of 0.3-0.5 mm :winking_face:

    with DreamOS 2.5 everything is better than OpenATV ... and much faster too. You will notice this very quickly, especially on weaker Dreamboxes such as the 520HD. I don't understand why people put old enigma2 on 9X0 Dreamboxes

    Eigentlich bin ich bereit auch CPU-Kühler auszutauschen, nun mich interessiert lieber passive Kühlung... sollte ausreichen. Hat jemand sowas verbaut?...wenn ja Link zu Bauteil währe nicht schlecht.

    Meine 900 Dreambox....eine den ersten (5-6 Jahre??), läuft immer noch ganz gut, 920 auch...Temperatur: 68-72°

    Noch eine Frage zu Dreambox ONE, da wird Temperatur unter Informationen nicht angezeigt, welche Telnetkomando liefert Temperatur über CPU?
