DM500HD eSATA HDD problem

  • Hello everybody,

I recently bought Fantec DB-ALU3e 1TB external hdd with eSata and USB
ports. I tried formatting it in NTFS format but the DM doesn't recognize
it (I previously used CoolerMaster hdd box with 1.5TB sata WD hdd in
it, also in NTFS format and it was working fine).

My DM is using the OpenPLi 2.1 image.

I tried initializing/formatting directly from the DM in Ext3 format and
also the same thing from PC with Mini Tool Partition Wizard and mounting
it on Win7 with Ext2 Volume Manager. The format went ok, I copied some
movies (mkv format) on it, connected via eSata onto DM, it now
recognizes it, plays the movie for about 30 sec or 1 min and blocks,
stops the movie and again it doesn't recognize the hdd. When I turn off
and again on the hdd it happens the same... It happens the same also in
    Ext4 format.

I tried also in FAT format and it doesn't recognize it.

Please help, I'm desperate [Blockierte Grafik: http://www.i-have-a-dreambox.com/wbb2/eng_images/smilies/smile.gif]

  • Does the Box have an extra power supply?
As long it has enough power (dreambox doesn't provide power over esata), it's formatted as ext3 and you're running an up-to-date image there shouldn't be any problem. However, OpenPLi 2.1 is rather old and even the new OpenPLi does use a totally different software base so you should ask them and not DMM

If you use an up-to-date DMM image and still have problems, we can help you cause this is what most people use here, too.

  • Yes it has it's own power supply, and I posted first on openpli.org support forum 2-3 days ago, but still no response...

Thanks anyway, maybe I'll switch to DMM image
