Stream to Another TV

  • Dear all,

    Apologies if this sounds trivial.

I need to Install a 2nd TV in the basement (gym) and wish to stream the DM7020s programme via the router to the remote TV. I would be grateful if someone could advice me if this is possible and if it is what sort of software / plugins should I have installed.

    kind regards

  • Hi ajs16
unfortunately, you have not yet received any reply to your query. Looking thru the forum I found your posting by chance.
In case you are still looking for an answer to your query please be advised that apparently a perfect solution to your problem is not that easy / trivial as it may appear.
I have a similar requirement: Streaming TV recordings from my NAS to a TV set that has not been involved in the recording. Furthermore, in addition to local clients also external ones should be able to stream or download (depending upon the bandwidth available) my recordings from a NAS. Here is the link to my thread:

The above mentioned thread is in German and somewhat long-winded and redundant. However, the bottom line is that there seems to be no perfect solution to our problem because TVs are so different with regard to the formats they are able to display.
I am very grateful to the many members of the forum who have participated in finding a solution.
Some in the forum have suggested equipping each TV with its own DREAMBOX to enable all TVs to play recordings. This might solve your problem because you want to stream to one local client only. I must admit that I have not tried out that suggestion because I would prefer to have the 2nd part of my problem solved as well before purchasing any hardware.
The 2nd part is to enable also external clients to play recordings that are stored on my NAS. The problem is that I cannot equip all external clients with DREAMBOXES as well because they have to be set up in their respective homes. So far, no feasible solution to my requirements has been found in the forum. Of course, that is not a fault of the DREAMBOX per se. However, I need a solution to all requirements.
Consequently, I have asked an external specialist to suggest a feasible solution. He will present his suggestions within the next few weeks.
Until then I am still using the 2nd best solution: Playing my recordings on a computer display by using the VLC player (can handle nearly all formats) and connecting the computer via HDMI cable to a TV set which is used as a clone of the computer display.
Please be advised that I am not a specialist regarding Sat receivers and similar gadgets. Therefore my tips might be wrong.
