I'm trying to restore my settings using FTP, but I keep getting "Invalid Username/Password"
I thought the default login was u:root and p:dreambox?
Failing that, how do I set/reset the password on a DM7020?
Thanks,
Gooneur

Try only "root" with "no" password!
Llamasoft Dreamboxedit doesn't allow a blank password.
How do I set one?

telnet to your box and type:
passwd
and then type in your password twice with 'enter' following.
You won't see the password when you type it in.
I can get a login prompt using telnet or ftp, but I suspect my dealer has set a password to stop me going in and changing things <!>
it's not blank and it's not "dreambox"
When I telnet, it's asking me to login.
So the question is can I reset the password without having to do a factory reset?

No
You could try the tuxcom plugin and start passwd from there. But i can't tell you whether you'll be able to type in a new password this way. Worth a try though

there is no password in the official software. if you have one, you did it yourself or someone else did it.
- The software version coming with the box does not have a password, and it will not ask for the password.
- The 2.0 offical image (also called 16.1.2006) do have the username: root and password: dreambox
- When I built my own image, it does not ask for a password.
Hi Users, DreamBox Password problem
DreamBx has no password, OK.
But for following softs, Gemini, Nabilosat, Darkstar etc, some FTP software are unable to connect.
They searched Password, as it is not defined they do not see that it is empty password.
Solution:
Under the command cmd Windows.
You type:
Telnet:192.168.x.x (your DreamBox 7020 IP address for example)
Yo go to see:
dm7020 login :
you type : root
so, command is: dm7020 login:: root
you go see:
root@dm7020:^#
you type: passwd
you go see:
Changing password for root
Enter the neww password .....
you type: nothing (blank) - and you have to confirm
you go to see:
Password changed
root@dm7020:^#
After with FTP soft, for example WinSCP or any other no problem
