Is there a way to have the DM800 HD completely power off so that it doesn't power any USB device attached and have it turn off it's internall fan? (without just unplugging it)
The box is close to the bed, the power socket is not easily accessible and the fan noise is very noticeable.

Just don't get it to stand by, but have it power off. It can be done by choosing the lowest option in the main menu.

That's the thing, I go to shutdown not standby and I get the "shutdown successful" message on the screen but the box is still powered (the message never goes off, fan spinning, USB is powered too).

Since when does original DM800HD have a fan?You might want to look at where the fan power is coming from...

The 800 needs to plugged out when shut down. It doesn't have the necessary frontprocessor to turn on and off by itself.

It has a small one. Seen it when putting in the HDD.
Ok so if it needs to be unplugged I suppose only way around it is to get one of those remote power sockets. -
NO! The original DM 800 has no fan! You bought a clone, an illegal copy of a original dreambox.
