Do you guys know why PiP is excluded from DM800, DM500HD images?
Since we have a support of http streams we could simply use PiP on single tuner receivers. Moreover, PiP works within the same TP anyway so way is not available?

Because DMM wants you to buy a DM7020Hd or 8000.
Yes, you can TUNE two different channels. But you do NOT have two video- decoders for pip. There is only one decoder on the chip of the smaller boxes. So it is not possible hardware- wise to have pip. It is NOT a Software- Limitation...
The 800SE and 500HD have the same chip (BCM7405) as the DM7020HD.

But less RAM.
But less RAM.
And the 8000 has the same amount of Ram as the 500HD and 800SE. So for PiP 256MB should be enough.
Any feedback from DMM on this topic?
Make a support request to DMM, then you will get (maybe) an official response.
Although the Developers answer here from time to time, this is not the place to get official feedback from DMM.
Anyway, it's quite obvious that pepo83's guess is right. On top of that, DMM has to pay licence fees to Broadcom for the microcode to activate this feature. Why should they pay this for a single-tuner box? People buy the boxes without PiP, too This is how economy works

The DM8000 has a different chip inside.
