Lünen, 24. December 2010. Small programme, huge effect.
Dream Multimedia, the leading supplier of Linux-based set-top boxes, today announced the winners of the Plugin Award.
The three winners can look forward to receiving their new Volkswagen cars shortly.

Carsten Brüggemann from Schriesheim/Germany entered a web bouquet editor that totally convinced the jury, consisting of programmers, technicians and the management of Dream Multimedia. He is now the proud owner of a new VW Tiguan Trend & Fun SUV valued at 27.000 Euros. His plugin allows viewers to create and manage their own bouquets via the Web interface of the Dreambox, irrespective of whether they are working with Linux or Windows.

Peter Metzinger from Vienna/Austria and Martin Huber from Neubiberg/Germany also among those who succeeded in standing out in the huge number of entries. The Web-TV application by Peter Metzinger enables viewers to display online videos distributed by well-known providers such as BBC HD or ABC from the USA via the Dreambox on the television screen – provided Internet access is available.

The TV-Series plugin developed by Martin Huber puts an end to unsorted lists of recordings, it places all the recorded episodes in a virtual folder, which is displayed in the main list with an index symbol.

The reward for these efforts: Dream will be handing over to each of the winners a brand new VW Polo Comfortline, valued at 16.000 Euros each. The three award-winning plugins will be installed as standard features in Dreamboxes in future, using the Enigma2 operating system developed by Dream.

Dream spokesperson Alpaslan Karasu: „The interest shown in our Plugin Award has far exceeded our expectations. The jury really had a difficult task, and was spoilt for choice. In my opinion, the jury has selected three really outstanding plugins, that demonstrate quite impressively the range of functions available in our Dreamboxes.“
